    She teaches herself to see

    Hello! =)
I have recently joined ConceptArt because I started drawing again. =) I've been wanting to learn it since I was a teenager but I always thought I needed to take art classes that I could never really afford. But I've seen many people on this site teaching themselves and achieving amazing results so I decided to try it out too. =)

I am drawing every day and since I don't have an instructor I'm really looking forward to read your constructive criticism. =) So please leave a comment if you drop by! ^^
    Have a nice day!

Those are some nice studies! It's awesome that you want to teach yourself to draw. If you stick with it I'm sure you'll find it rewarding. As for criticisms, I don't have anything too specific - maybe to practice your perspective skills a bit (that mug looks kinda wonky perspective-wise) and maybe to also try doing some life studies (of people I mean - never a bad idea). Your style is very cartoon-y right now (the first two pics), and while not necessarily true for you, that style can sometimes be used as a crutch to get around the trickier task of realistic rendering. The main thing though, is to just keep doing what your doing. Actually putting pencil (or whatever) to paper (or whatever) and drawing is the most important step in learning to draw (obviously :p), and you're off to a great start!

Thanks a lot! =) Another hobby of mine is writing which taught me how to actually sit down and work on my craft each day so I think I won't have serious problems with this part. Hopefully. ^^
I've been planning to do some gesture drawings and anatomy studies in the near future anyway so I think I'll follow your advice and draw some people tomorrow. Thanks again for the comment! ^^

Here's the poor little female figure sketch I did today. I think her upper body turned out a bit too big.
    Oh, anatomy!

    Here are today's sketches:
I tried out Sycra's "lighting-bolt-technique" but I think I still have to work hard on anatomy. I realized that I tried to do sketching the wrong way before (I tried to draw figures in contour instead of relying on anatomy) so these days I've been working on to change this. It's so hard to change a habit but I'm not giving up! ^^

Haven't tried to draw eyes in years! I'm quite happy with the results though. I know they're not really good, but for me they are kind of. =)
But I still have no idea how to draw eyebrows... =(

*edit: I can't believe I actually forgot to shade in the left white part of her eye. =')

Couldn't draw for a few days, because I had to finish and hand in my thesis. But it's finally done, phew! ^^
