    Yann HOVADIK: Recent Work and Demos (drawings&paintings from life)

    Hi Folks, this thread is about my recent drawings and paintings. Everything's made from life, alla prima and most are done in between 2 to 3 hours.

    Yanno nice value studies. Shading the local color you might try introducing some complimentary color to charge the shadow area. If you have two areas of light you could use the compliment to tint one of the light sources. To harmonize the whole painting pick a hue and mix a tad into all of your colors or add little bit of broken color into the different areas, a combination of both techniques can be used along with glazes,scrubbing or dry brushing.     There's little variation in your cast shadows, not everything makes such a dark one. That last peeled Clementine, was pretty good.


    I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.

    Thanx Black spot, I know but a very strong lighting makes your shadows almost black. That said, i'll try to work my shadows a little bit less darker.
