Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
Sergeant put more detail into the mans head than the rest of the image showing it was the most important part of the piece.
Nice first attempt.
Keep a close eye on the shapes. Take an extra few minutes in the beginning to be sure your shapes are mapped out really well and double and triple check your placement and values and edges as you go.
keep it up!!
I chose this Vermeer piece because it is a very iconic painting. Vermeer used economy in this piece to make the woman really stand out.
Nice job on the overall shapes. You need to get your edges more accurate if you are to capture the same feeling of light and atmosphere. Using a soft edged airbrush on low opacity will help with those shapes that have gradient qualities to them.
Keep up the great work.
I chose this piece because i just love the look of it. I noticed That bocklin used contrast to draw attention to the island.
It looks to me like your water and moutnain values are a few percentage points off...too light. the rock on the right side is a little darker in yours...you are sooooo close. two minutes would probably solve all your value challenges if you make a value check at the very end.
I chose this piece because of the lighting and the detail put into the mans face.
You are doing a great job with your overall values. You must work to be more accurate on your faces. Take your time. Measure. Flip the images. Check the shapes, values and edges. Keep your eyes moving back and forth. Do not paint three or four marks after looking. look...paint one mark...check that mark...look again...double check what you think you see...put another mark...double check the mark you put. it is all about building that into your habits.
Keep up the good work.
