    CHOW #346 :: Insect Ruler :: FINALS

    CHOW #346 :: Insect Ruler :: FINALS

    Character of the Week #346
    Insect Ruler

    Deadline - Sunday, February 23rd 10PM GMT

    In the realm of the insect world, the societies that exist are ruled by a monarchy. There is a ruler for each type of insect and each ruler is part of The Gathering. The Gathering is where each of the head rulers meet to discuss the best interests of their people, resolving disputes, signing treaties, etc.

    This next topic is going to be pretty straight forward. Your goal is to design an insect ruler. You can pick any INSECT. I recommend you do some research if you don't know what defines an insect. If you need some examples of humanoid, reference the movies Antz or A Bug's Life. Also, backgrounds will be permitted this week.

    The Guidelines:
    • Can be male or female
    • MUST BE HUMANOID, you can mix half human, half bug if you would like.
    • MUST be insect based. Look up what insects are if you don't know.
    • MUST include reference image of insect when posting final
    • Make them look like a ruler! Don't just go generic and call it good. Push the design, give it clothes, jewelry, etc.
    • Backgrounds are permitted this week.

    The Rules
    • Finals must be posted in the finals thread before the deadline
    • Final post must include the CHoW # and the artists username at the bottom of the image within, at least, a footer bar(TYPED, NOT WRITTEN)
    • At least 3/4 of the character must be visible. No back views are allowed without a front please.
    • Sketches or rushed artwork will not be accepted into the poll
    • No photograph paint overs, must be 100% original work
    • At least two wips posted with your final in the finals thread
    • NO ENVIRONMENT BACKGROUNDS! You may use simple shapes, gradients or silhouettes
    • Have fun!

    QueenBee

    Yay, first to comment!
    :p
    It's a very classical insect ruler, but I hope you like my Queen Bee.

    Queen Bee reminds me a little too much of 'Queen Bee ' from DarkStalkers the Capcom series.
    I still like the form and as for the second of the horned beetle, great concept and very interesting take on the CHoW concept ideas.

    Chow 346 Insect Ruler Ninsta Final

    Ok well I'm gonna head to bed cause it's like... 3:30 am, but I got it done ... I got a lil lazy on her hands... and feet... but I jumped on the boat late.

    I want to shower peeps with praise and all that but I'm friggin exhausted. So Catcha later when I'm not a sleep zombie.

    Also if you want a better look at the pic http://confabulant.deviantart.com/ar...inal-436269525

    Since I don't feel that the resolution on here really does it any justice.... Also I can't seem to do a picture without violent use of color. Need to tone down my colors lol.

    Updated: here is the dragonfly that inspired this piece. Although I did combine it with spiders eyes and mandibles to make it a much fiercer creature.

    I think you need to upload another image with the reference of the insect your design is based on.
    Would be a shame if your creepy bug wouldn't go into the poll, because it's awesome.

    Amazing round guys, great entries here. Here's mine: The assassin bug is characterized by its cold and calculating way to stalk its prey, it has a dagger-shaped beak to stab its victim and inject its paralyzing saliva.

    Try converting them to jpegs, I have never loaded a png file on here before, so don't know if that might be the the problem.
    Either that or try another browser?
