Thank you. I know what you mean. I haven't posted in a long time, so I don't know how to resize them when I upload. Any tips?

Well, until I know how to resize I'll continue to pose. If anyone knows how to resize it would be greatly appreciated.

I guess you need to look at a lot of other people's designs to get inspiration. Pinterest is really good for that.

To just look at others designs, and see what elements I like to combine? I've joined Pinterest, pretty handy. Question I'm trying to colour after making a line art image. I'm starting out on a new layer, but when I colour with an airbrush it dilutes my line art so it doesn't look good, I also can't see it. Any tips for colouring?

It's how I get inspiration. I also think others do that as well. You see a lot of stuff and then your mind works, combining, mixing and twisting them together to make new stuff, I guess.

As of the coloring, you can leave the lineart above the color layer and do a paint-under. You can also change the lineart blending mode to multiply and lower its opacity a little bit if you want it to blend it better with the colors.

I tried multiply Still not sure how to colour while making the lineart clear, but I'll keep trying. At first it came out horrible, and I really wanted to throw in the towel, but I managed to pull it back from the brink. I really wanted to challenge myself by actually finishing something. There are still plenty of details and time I could have put into it, but I really anxious about finishing and posting this. (I'm working on it.) Took me around 10 hours, give or take.

I'm a person that really fixates on being perfect too much. Right now I'm just gonna focus on what it is I actually want to draw. Faults or nah. Any help appreciated. Just wanted to draw Starfire, looked at superhero poses to help. Winged the rest.

It appears to link to the first attachment on the first post of the thread.

I think you changed the inline image, but left the attachments as they were. You need to open the attachment manager and tinker with it a bit to get your desired image to be the first attachment there.

I tried messing about with it, and I still couldn't find a way of putting the preferred image at the top, without deleting the other images.

I moved all mine to second post so they didn't get lost, and just left the one I wanted on the first post. Nice mix of studies and sketches. Put in some still lives too - eggs are good for the human figure.

I could try that. Thank you. I've got some life drawing sessions I'm planning to upload once I have the time. (How do eggs translate? Learning values?)

I think you need to work on your skin tones a bit. Add some warmer colours to the mix. At the moment all of them seem a bit greeny - which just feels a bit sickly. Especially on that superhero character.

Warm tones...I know what you mean, when it comes to rendering the colouring I get lost, frustrated and bored. She meant to have a nice bronze glow as well. Would you suggest working with light shades? What drills would you suggest?

Uhmm... what the hell is a drill? I don't really take any structured approaches to learning so I'm not really sure. I don't think lighter shades are the answer, as from my limited knowledge this character is meant to have a darker skin tone yes? I think it might be best to look at artists you like and see their approach to doing similar things. As it is your colours seemed very washed out, I'm sure if you found some faanart the colours would be extremely vibrant. Another thing is when colouring don't just add black to the darker parts and white to the lighter parts, that will desaturate your colour. Instead choose lighter and darker hues. Your latest pencil drawings are super good though.

By drill I meant if you know of any disciplined exercises I could repeat and practice to tackle warmer hues. I guess you would just say studies. Starfire is known for her orange skin, I tried to make her a dark bronze in fitting my image of what her actress would look like with orange overtones. (Dark skin with a bronze glow.) I know the colours don't look as I intended, but I'm a person that get's really frustrated easily, so my so I don't complete any full images. So, I'm just learning how to let myself make mistakes. So expect a lot in this sketchbook! The only part of the colouring I really like is the first ones stomach area @(in terms of shading) and I did use a reference for that part. I'll take what you said into consideration. If you have any artists you think excel in this area for me to look at please let me know.

Thanks, I'm spent years using a pencil in a sketchbook and I've only been digitally painting for around a month. I still have a lot to learn, and the curve is steep.

Disciplined exercises? You've got the wrong person there I'm afraid. I think it's really a matter of experimenting and seeing what works. Hell you could just adjust the colours in post, mess around with saturation or with colour levels and see what works. With how good those pencil drawings look I believe in you, you just need more experience.

Lol. I am totally OKAY with that interpretation. However the fact that I left the girl on the right's shirt looking so clean and crisp will always haunt me. It's one of those little details I could have just spent a little more time on.

I'm still trying to figure out Krita. Sara Tepes makes it look so easy. I'll experiment and see what I glean. Thanks, I'm really anal about keeping the lines clean, I need to learn to let loose first. I never noticed the shirt until you said so, I just noticed her large white forehead.
