    overall i think you have a pretty solid start here. from the looks of your avatar you are getting a decent likeness. with that said, I think you need to be careful with the marks on the neck (it looks like a cut with the dark mark) and would be well served to paint in the shoulders/bust area like a bust style portrait can sometimes have. I want you to avoid the floating head...look up the term "vignette" and you will find many examples of how to do a quick study but give it kind of a finished look.

    I question whether your reflect light really is the same value as your highlight or if it is because you are looking into your shadow and your pupils are adjusting and lightening up the reflect light as you take more light into your eyes.

    A very solid go! Awesome! I was going to say that using a blending brush wouldn't hurt to get those smooth blends of tone/texture.
