    TOPIC: Mesosphere Storm Observation
    suggested by yAdam

    Brief:
    1. Design an environment that adheres to the topic/theme.
    2. You must post at least once in this W.I.P. thread to be included in the finals thread for the voting poll.

    Deadline: February 15, 2013

Congrats to Mooglesarelittle for winning EOW #222!

Post your final entries in the 'FINAL BURNING' thread which I will be posting about a week or so from the deadline. If you need more time to get your finals in, let me know and I'll extend the deadline. Good luck!

Made some very basic sketches since i had little to no ideas in which direction to go.
Guess it's a good place to start but dunno if I can make it into painting...Name: eow224_mesosphere-storm-observation.jpg

    Hey!

This is my first EOW and I'm quite excited what the rest is going to make as I saw some older EOW which were pretty well done!
When I checked the topic for the next EOW I found that this one would be a bit harder.. but nervermind: I tried and here's what I've got!
    I would appreciate your critiques!

This is my first time trying one of the weekly challenges. Environments are really hard for me.

My idea was based on a desert dying planet that is covered in electrical storms. They collect the energy with observation towers. They probably live underground. I based the observation towers off of plasma balls.

Just out of curiosity, why the mesosphere?

Cool stuff guys! I stayed with my second thumb for now. May need to fix some details, but I'm satisfied how it turned out so far.

The original topic suggester yAdam didn't say why he chose it, if memory serves me correctly. I found this fact online just a minute ago: "The mesosphere lies above the maximum altitude for aircraft and below the minimum altitude for orbital spacecraft." Maybe the vision he had for a storm observation facility was at that level in the atmosphere.

Here is my thumbs, only managed to get two in.

Kind of busy and also this is a pretty difficult EOW. I wanted to give it a shot because it deals with space (just one more layer of atmosphere before the perpetual awesome blackness that is space ). Needless to say this is a rough EOW cause there aren't too many refs of a Mesosphere to pick from, if anything mostly diagrams and a few pictures, and that's about it (at least to my knowledge) and the rest is up to imagination I guess.

Getting back into conceptartdotorg forums after years of being gone, starting with this eow. Unfortunately my only internet access right now is my phone, and the forums won't let me upload my wip. So I'll upload from a friend's computer later. Mine is basically following a spacestation-ish theme at the moment.

Oh fine go ahead and use it anyway...

Well, I see you're familiar with sprites... lol.

I was thinking of including them if I were to enter this one, which I don't think I will since the topic isn't very clear.

Here is another WIP for the final. I'm really struggling with this one, what to put in it for a facility like thing, etc. I'll keep working on it, Hope it turns into something I'm happy with.
