Erased the background, wich leaves me with a funny pose. I should see how can I solve it, and check a little the flipping, since -as of now- it´s not giving good results.
I hadn´t time to render the left hand; obviously it´s really important thing to do next.
I´m sure there are some guys lurking in the dark that will wait to the last day to post, that´s a pitty...

awesome topic! mirrors edge! I couldn't help myself, I had to come up with something for this one, still a wip, very early on in the design stages... her special item is her sticky gloves that allow her to move up walls, and run along them for a longer duration. she also never leaves home wthout her trusty headset, linked back to base with an operator guiding her every movement...

Nicky: Shoulders are too wide and/or longer the legs.
Dayle: Her right arm is longer than left one. Adding some textures on surfaces would be cool.

You all are awesome; great entries, everyone! Sadly I have no time to finish mine before deadline. See you next round in the future. Keep it up!

Nice job everyone. Here's my wip, semester is finally over! I think I'll be able to finish this one on time.
I'm thinking of rotating that right leg bit more to the front. Looks weird like this -____- and maybe add some color xD

So I think mine is pretty much finished, I'll sit on it for today in case I decide to change anything but for now I'm happy with it. The package is like a glowing blue crystal or something.

@Yuushin7: Yeah her left leg looks a little off. Maybe rotate it and bring the knee up? It'll add some tension since currently the pose looks sort of relaxed. And it might just be me but her right leg looks a little long, or maybe it's down to anime-esque proportions I dunno, but I did a quick paint-over to illustrate what I mean.

    Yyyeeea I realized the right leg length problem too ^^;
Aaa~ I see, that pose does make more sense....I'll try that out and see if I can pull it off. Thanks!

Don't have any more time to work on her so this is my final. Her back pack has a cryostasis unit attached with some kind of organic matter or creature inside. Her smiley face is on her manhood mangler. Great designs everybody, tis great to see all the interpretations.

Nice work people looking forward to the finals.
Sorry to hear about your wacom pen lennon.

I realy like this topic, I wanted them to look professional, but some of them ended up looking to serious. And the smiley face sticker would look out of place on them. So I went with nr 2. because I think she works best with the brief.
The package she is transporting is a cyberbrain or an E-brain of a kidnapped vip. The brain is being held hostage but had to be moved. the special piece of equipment, is a small drone that can be folded together, and strapped to the belt. She uses it as a diversion . because it can project three holograms of her that runs of in different directions.

Not really sure where else to go with this.

having an awful time trying to figure out the color balance / contrast on this guy.

Also, to clarify, he's supposed to be a cyborg, (not by choice) he underwent some testing and some experimental "upgrades" by the corrupt government.

    feedback is must appreciated.

J.brownculp: I think you are missing the mark. This reads as Tarzan with some sort of helmet. I recommend making thumbnails first, rough design drawings and experiment before trying to paint something. Otherwise, you end up where you just have no idea where to go.

    Thanks havoc reed!

I think Tarzan with a helmet isn't exactly where I want to be at in as literally a send as it is now, but its not all that far from where I'd like it to be! Disneys Tarzan has the movement and fluidity I'd like from this chow. Tomorrow I'll work on focusing in on what I find appealing about the design, and lose the loin cloth!

    Great work everyone !

@Vezarez : I really like how your "glowing green" pops out of the rest, and the neatly defined volumes.
@atomic ray : thanks for your remark ! I was quite hesitating concerning the style to give to the character, I hesitated between flat colors and a rendering a little bit more sophisticated. So I had fun with the hair ! I like the energy of your dynamic sketch.
    @overtexed : love your gestures !
@julianR : I like your silhouettes, very nice colors. I'm looking forward for your finshed work !

It was my first participation, the subject and the entries were very interesting. It was my first attempt at character design, and now I see I should spend way more time in sketches, silhouettes and gesture research. Thanks everyone for sharing !

I only noticed the topic yesterday morning but I wanted to take a stab at it. Not sure if I'll finish by the deadline but, hey, I might.

I need to go back and refine how exactly the legs work and I think I'll a bit more with the back, especially how the package is carried.

Lots of problems with attachments and stuff. Had to download firefox for it to work.

Anyway, I doubt I will finish in time but will definitely see this through for a portfolio piece.

Moirae: You can do this! Quick crits to help you catch up:
I think you would normally use the other hand for a hop like this.
Neck, arms and legs look a bit short compared to her long torso.
Front leg is maybe a bit too closed.
If it's her head she tries not to forget at home, then she is more like a robot than a cyborg. Remember that robots aren't allowed.

    Good luck!

A bit of progress. Worked out the legs, took some inspiration from running specific leg prosthesis, adding some detail, and generally adding definition. The plan for today is to work while watching streams and not get up unless I have something I'm pretty happy with.

Thanks for the crits Hartsitikru, I tried to follow as much of your advice as possible. I agree that the other arm would be favored, but I stuck with it because I would have had to move the bag as well and at the point I was at when I read your advice I doubt I would have finished in time.
    Good luck in the final.

Pretty sure I'm mostly done with this. Just going to give it a nice frame and maybe make the background a bit pretty. Not my best work but this was fun to pump out in two days.
