    Mistermojo28's path to not sucking

Hey guys I'm Joe, a concept and 3D game artist based in the UK. I'm new to these forums but I've heard good things! Looking forward to getting some critiques and thoughts from all the talented artists on here. I've been painting digitally properly for about a year and a half, and I'm looking to take my work to the next level as I feel I'm in a rut somewhat...

Not really got much time for non-work stuff at the mo, so here's something older I recently re-touched, and a sketch from a couple of weeks ago:

Cheers! Yeah that's probably one of the few pieces I've done that I'm proud of South West/Midlands Bit vague I know but I move around a lot...

Did a bunch of colour studies, forced myself to avoid colour picking and adjustments, made me realise how little I know about colour...

More sketches, made myself stick to a single brush for most of these, it's been a fairly big wake-up call with regards to how much I rely on Photoshop adjustments!

Love your paintings, you make such interesting landscapes. Your thumbnail studies are just what i needed to push me onto starting value and colour studies, so thank you.

Hey, thanks a lot! I'm glad I could inspire you I've been a bit lazy the past couple of weeks, need to get back into studies.

Hey man, thanks for dropping by my sketchbook! I'm pretty sure it's alright to promote your printstore so don't worry too much about that I'm liking your studies man. Looking fine. I have some feedback for you regarding the latest masterstudies: Observe and establish the major shapes first, then scribble in smaller and looser details. I'm seeing some scribbly lumps of value that could be painted more deliberate. Keep that in mind!
Also regarding this piece - http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...3&d=1390076886

Your highlights are evenly distributed across all of the piece. This gives it a flat appearance. Observe how sunsets fall on mountains in reality and I'm sure you'll pick some things up! keep it up
