    Seeking Illustrator(s) - Medieval - Dark Ages a specialty...

I am looking to create a short animation film and hopefully kick off my own indie short film-animation company. I have a script that I have written that originally was to be a college thesis project live action and created a campaign for it on Indiegogo, but it's hard when you don't have enough backing or anything tangible other than my own artwork to back up the project, so the campaign wasn't that successful. But, the script always read as a dark animation short and that's what I'm returning it too... with your help.

I am an artist myself, more of a photomanip - digital image creator and aspiring animator filmmaker, so I understand and am empathetic to the artist. I've made a few college shorts and some animations, but the time to create the illustrations and animate and produce was killing me... and I'm not the kind of illustrator for such an idea as this.

The story simply is set in a non-descrip medieval-dark ages time. No particular country or people, but think of it as Game of Thrones meets The Protestant Reformation. No time frame... just a world as yet uncreated. Dark, dirty, dismal...

What I'm looking for are several characters. This will be a paper cut styled animation very much in the form of Daniel Geis, using the puppet tool of Photoshop and After Effects to create the puppetry and animation. What I need for each character, let's just say one for now, is a character sheet. Front, side, back, 3/4 profiles, several faces possibly, Male, color, high res... medieval styled warriors (arms legs heads, etc separated as well).

Honestly... I'm new to the game of illustration and costs. I've asked around town so to speak to get an idea of what the cost would be, but I guess that varies depending upon the artist and work involved. For one character sheet, based upon varied inquiries, I can pay $300 per character sheet. That may be too low or too high, the later I don't think so though... but it's a round figure and dependent upon the work, I'm sure we can talk. I base it upon a very significant artist who works in the industry and that's his going rate, so I hope that doesn't sound insulting to anyone. The work is under $500 but with several characters needed, it will be more. I may just hire 2-3 artists to get the job done as long as they are closely together in look unless you can manage all of it. We can work out all the payments via PayPal.

Let me know if interested or have any questions.. Would love to discuss ideas and possibilities as this would be a team effort... I'm an aged, I guess you can say, film and art student who entered college life late in life, but I learned what means more to me this half of my life and it is to create this film... I hope I can find someone just as passionate as I to work with...

    THANKS one and all...

Hi, I'm Renzo Podesta, I'm from Argentina and I've been working on the US comic field since 2003 as freelance penciller, inker and colorist. Among other books and several releases, I was the artist from Image/Shadowline's mini-series called 27 (and his sequel, 27: Second Set) and I have a project published under Viper Comics and written by Russell Nohelty. My list of published works include several projects for IDW, Desperado, Arcana and Top Shelf.

Well, I just saw your post and I just wanted to let you know that I'm interested. Please feel free to check my personal blog, which is: http://renzopodesta.blogspot.com. In there you'll find my list of released books and my clients.

If you are interested, I'll be waiting for a reply so we can talk about your project.

    Thanks for your time,

    Renzo Podestá-

I am a professional freelance artist with experience in illustration and design;( digital comics, concept design, character design, book covers and illustrations, logo design). I have a bachelor degree in media arts and animation. I work both digitally and traditionally. For digital work I use programs like Photoshop and illustrator, for traditional work I use pen and pencil, acrylic, watercolor and colored pencil. Hi,

Medieval / Dark Ages stuff would be totally mine.

Since 2005 I've been in the games business as concept artist and narrative designer for everything from RPG to cartoon-styled adventures. I have some basic practice with 2D animation (game art), and lots of experience in sequential art (comic, storyboard). Currently I'm the new, but still unpublished artist of Single Edge Studio's Wayfarer's Moon and working as freelance illustrator (book interior, covers etc) besides.

300$ per sheet would be minimum for me, but I'd be fine with it for a start, most of all once the style is established.

Please find my portfolio at www.dracoliche.de
I would be glad if you're interested!

    Hello,

I am a freelance illustrator with experience in fantasy/medieval artwork. I would love to work on this project as it seems like a fun, semi-long-term job (if more characters are added), and something that would provide me with great experience.

I can easily do multiple characters at once, and I can bid competitively at $200 per character sheet. I am familiar with the concept you are going for (cut-outs using the puppet tools) and after a few drafts per character, each one can be finished very quickly.

You can view my work at http://williamvblack.weebly.com. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you and hope we can work together in the near future.

    --Will Black

    Hello,

I love doing character illustrations/design and I also do a variety of styles so I think you'll find my art interesting. I've also worked on some animations and animators like with James Farr and Steelehouse. I did character designs and backgrounds for them, although the style is more on heavily stylized cartoons than with what you are looking for. You can see those on my portfolio below:

Do browse my portfolio and I hope you'll like what you see!

    Anyway Here's my DA portfolio:

Thanks and I hope for your consideration!
