The Sketchbook of Steven Beaumont: to become a great concept artist and illustrator

a lot of people try and do new years resolutions... well here's mine. i want to improve my skills to become a pro artist working in the industry. i know i need to improve to become a pro, hence this thread.
i was inspired by Miles Johnston after seeing his work and sketchbook thread, it seemed this really helped him improve, so i shall try and do the same.

i'm going to try my best to upload as regularly/ daily as possible, with simple sketches of anatomy or an environment sketch, or some personal piece in the works till it's done, maybe some z brush sculpts or 3d models which i do(albeit probably less frequently, though i'm trying to get back into it). hopefully people will tear my work apart and be able to tell me what i'm doing wrong and point me towards tutorials, point of references or practices/ techniques to help me improve.

anyway her's some practising I've been doing, before the new year

quick speed paint practice around an hour to 1 1/2 hours i guess, try and get a little quicker doing things, tried not to draw to much and paint which made things like the face a lot harder, at one point quckly sketching over the photo's face just to see where i was screwing up.

a speedpaint/study i did today, think it took 1 hour and 40 mins roughly. the face whilst an improvement over the last attempt looks more like a stylized/ comic book version of her face(well sorta) and i'm not sure how i feel about that.
it's another photo from mjranum-stock by the way

just a quickie practice on form and lighting today, looking a squarer shapes then trying to apply to a rounder more ballish shape.

i tried thinking a using shapes with this using as little line as possible, feel as though i messed up the proportions because of this, the legs look stubby.
