Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
Deadline: Sunday the 22nd of December.
In addition to this, participants can choose to do an Optional "Drawing Hair" Study, in any medium.
Time to tackle a drawing/painting problem! How to handle hair?
Hair consists of numerous flexible strands which provides a unique problem. It is easy to be tempted into drawing strand after strand. Tedious, and this doesn't always convey a sense of volume. And how to handle the light shining trough? And the highlights all over the place?
You may find that people use different strategies (check some of the links below). For example, an approach can be to observe the large masses first, and add effects or single strands later.
Perform a study on hair. Try to figure out a good method to handle this topic, and learn something new. Reference recommended! Both digital and traditional media are fine!

Hello guys! Long time no see, but i'm back for a bit, and here are some hair studies.
Great hair study nat , particularly that last one. Makes me want to draw more hair! hahah
Repainted the hair and the face several times.
When's the deadline for this? The post says 22nd May?
- nat - I like your cross hatching shading. Some of your lines are a little messy - the actual outlines, but I think you're getting some good forms down! Especially those legs!
Cristina Zabavayou've made a good start on that hair. The basic shapes are there, as well as the shading. I like the face too. anyway, got a bit of character
ashess Good idea on the textured brushes! I'm gonna ninja that idea. I wouldn't use them for it all though. Try to block in the main shapes first with a hard round brush.
Okay here's mine. Some 60sec poses from quickposes using pen. Untimed hair studies. Looooove drawing hair. Wanted to get some portrait practice in at the same time.

In a bad mood? Take it out on my sketchbook! All constructive critique welcome!

@nat nice stuff-
@animare- yours textured brushes? they look nice. ah, I just used a mixer brush near the end with a custom tip. I know I went a lil far with them. happened pretty quickly.
lets see what did I do that I can put into the 'gesture' category with a relatively clear conscience?
hah hah. fooled you. don't have a conscience.
Thank you guys!
I did more hair studies.
And some eye studies as well. Tried to duplicate the right eye and make it a left eye faster. I realize there are many flaws
(from shading to reflections and iris placement) so I'm not doing that again, have no fear! xD
