Thread: Selblu's Sketchbook
December 15th, 2013 #1
Hello!I have been looking around this forum for a while and I am really impressed by the improvement some of these sketchbooks reveal so i decided to join the site and make one myself in the hope that i can become a better artist.
I'm a 16 year old from Portugal and I want to become a concept artist. I've been doing art for some years but i only started learning the things i should have learnt in the first place about an year ago. If you have any critiques or know any way I can improve please share

Two more drawings from life. A chair from a doll house and a shiny rock on top of a box. The rock doesn't look at all like it was supposed to.

I really love your figure drawings as well as how you show form with your shading. I would say that this is a great sketch book so far! Keep up the good work. You're certainly going in the right direction for only being 15. Keep up with the studies and you'll definitely reach your goal.

Last post for now, trying to block in the body, a drawing of a box from life and a drawing for imagination, hands referenced. Had to lower brightness since i drew it with a light blue pencil. I might finish that one so please critique.

School has been keeping me busy but the holidays are finally here so i can draw more
I bought Dynamic Anatomy and have been having a lot of fun with the section on facial features, which i didn't expect to like this much :o. So the first one is a study from a photograph and the last three are studies from Hogarth.

More studies from Hogarth.
April 5th, 2014 #28
Last ones for now. Two portraits from some classmates. They aren't very accurate but i don't dislike the result that much :0.
Critiques are welcome. Will hopefully be back soon with some perspective and more Hogarth stuff.

Cool stuff! Try to do drawings from memory after you finish a study from life to test that knowledge!

Thank you for your tip I only saw your comment now but i will definitely try to have some drawings from imagination the next time i post. I'm trying to learn more constructive methods right now so i can do more drawings from imagination.
Things from life. The first two are objects that i found around my room. The portrait was suposed to be me but it looks so different and much older :|. The last one was made with a little mirror looking at different parts of my face.
