    Great stuff you have here!
I really love the texture on your pencil work. I hope that you keep posting! Too many start sketchbooks and then stop after a week or two.
I want to see more of your awesome work!

palladium - Thanks man! Glad to hear you liked it.

Mrkolsyrad - Thank you! Yea, you're definitely right on that one, this is like my third SB I guess.. Haha. But I'll stay here a little longer than a few weeks, if I don't die! :o

    Grumpysaur - hey! Thanks!

FawkUrCouch - Thanks a lot! No, no more slacking for me!

Okay, I was a little unsure if I should post all my crappy studies, but what the hell, I'm here to develop as an artist, not to draw pretty drawings. And I guess it's easier for me to keep track of my progress this way. .. So bare with me!
Some basic stuff from today(gestures, structure etc) which I didn't do several years ago and some older crap.

I love the loose and lively impromptu pen sketches.

Use it or loose it. And now I find myself trying remember where I lost my drawing skills...

Awesome still-life Esco. And no the edges do not suck You should check out Richard Schmids paintings or his book Alla Prima. There are lots of beautiful renderings in oil and lots of tips on painting from life. And plenty of useful information on edges as well. If you are near a main library branch, you might be able to checkout a copy of it, the book has raised in price recently. But you can get his Alla Prima II which I think is the expanded addition of the first book.

Pindurski - thanks mate! More will definitely come!

Palladium - thanks a lot, appreciate it! Yea, been considering wether I should buy that book or not but I guess I should do it. He really knows his stuff!

Carro - tack så mycket! Jo, precis så känner jag med, och det lär man alltid göra, i stora och små mått. Kikade in din SB en snabbis och du är definitivt på rätt spår!

I'll check out your stuff later!

Some ~30 min speeds from today (2 first ref, 3rd imagination, 4th from life) gotta do waaay more, everyday! Crit would be awesome. Slaughter me please!

Alright, some input! I think you´d benefit from using separate layers for separate objects in your paintings,
and using a logical layer hierarchy. Have the sky the bottom layer, and the character in the foreground the top layer.

For example, your layers might be structured like this

    Foreground trees
    Character
    Village
    Forrest
    Closer Mountain
    Far Mountain
    Clouds
    Sky

While keeping silhouette clean and try not to lay down brush strokes that have no real purpose.
Using lasso tool or a brush with opacity turned off is a great exercise too.

Flaskpost - Thanks for the kind words and for the input, I appreciate it! I hear ya! In the next speed paintings I will keep it much more structional and clean, and focus more on my strokes!

Err.. Some gestures (30, 45, 60 secs), some sketching and one Saul Tepper study. I really need to find the flow and movement in those gestures, I think they're way to stiff. Well, time to do some more!

This last bunch is awesome Esco Great study, as for your digital sketches, you should keep them at about thumbnail size before zooming in to detail. This way, you can get all of your major shapes in a shorter amount of time. Keep on painting Esco, its the only way to improve

Palladium - thanks man! You're right. I love details, in a totally destructive way, haha. But I'll keep on fighting my bad habit! thanks, I will!

Okey, some quick studies (20-60min) for tonight, trying to focus more on my strokes and to nail the colors. SO FUN! (but I really need to finish a study in the future haha)
