    [[----== Art of George - Sketchbook 2013 ==----]]

    Hi fellow Conceptart dot orgers,

My name is George Evangelista and I'm a freelance artist with a passion for illustration, character and creature design.

I've been absent here for a while so not sure if I have uploaded some of these before. At the moment I have a few WIP to show but I will update it current sketches soon.

Looking forward to seeing all awesome stuff here and to really get inspired from all you guys. I'm excited to come back here again and looking forward to updating some more.

here are more looser sketches and not so loose. Uploading a big batch for my first thread post, so I can get rid off the old stuff and start with some fresh ones. Better they are uploaded here than just doing nothing as old unused files in my folder.

I'm in love with this one

I'm also amazed with that alien thing from #3. Btw, is the "armored hunter" above inspired on Samus?

Thanks for stopping by JeanFumero and I'm glad you like my piece, I really appreciate it Not really sure if I was directly inspired by it, but this particular one was a small client job and they had certain description on how the character was suppose to look like.

wow great creature drawings/paintings. like the lion ones. what I like to know is - I see you work also with textures. are these texture-brushes in photoshop or are you opend a texture file and copy it into the artwork?

Thanks T-Eight for stopping by my thread. As for texture work 80% of the time I generally use the round brush in airbrush mode for fine texture work. The remaining percentage I do use photographic sources as either a starting off point to help me paint the rest of the textural work or something that I would use mid way or near the end to give my textural work that extra little punch.
Either way they are used very sparingly and not too much that it starts dictating the whole artwork.
There has been some cases where I do use photographic sources more than I should and one of the cases usually is, because I am stuck concept wise and I use it for the purpose of suggesting me ideas, and once I got it I proceed back to my normal procedure.
As for texture brushes, I do have a few very basic custom ones and I use it to create general 'noise' to also help me get started with textural work and also as a near finishing technique to give that extra randomness in my work.
I'm sorry for the long answer I just don't know how answer it shortly.

AAAAArrrghhH! I hate love you man lol.
This is some pretty damn amazing work you got here! I wish that I can get even just a tiny little bit close to your skill level in lets say... 50 years?
I just don't understand how you can render things out in this quality. I get both hyped up and depressed at the same time looking at this kind of work. I get hyped because maybe, there's that small chance that in the future I might be able to do this too, and I get depressed when I see how faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away I am xD.

Your portfolio looks REALLY professional too! I am impressed to say the least.

@Mrkolsyrad: Thank you very much for the kind words mate, it is greatly appreciated. I can totally relate to you as I feel (and still do) when I see great artist likes Brad Rigney post awesome work. I do get that feeling of being inspired and discouraged as well, but I just try my very best to ignore the 'discouraged' part and just keep doing what I do and work even harder. I always try to shift it in a way that gets me motivated to do better and realise that it will take time, and if you continue to do that one day you will realise how far you'd come. I guess it's a never ending journey and we can always do better. Thanks for stopping by

@n1frit: Thank you very much for your kind words and for visiting my gallery

@rupuni: hehe thanks man I appreciate the kind words very much! Lots of more work to come
