The 1st 4 and the last one were 'slow gestures' - working from a suggestion I saw on the board that at first you should practice as slowly as it takes to learn to get the form right, just like in martial arts, then when you've got that down you start going faster. Sounds like the right approach to me.

Switched up from untimed to 1 min for these and drew big on newsprint. Sorry for the awful photo quality - need to work out a better lighting setup for it.

Still haven't ironed out all the issues with lighting on my homemade copy stand - will keep working on it. Meanwhile, sorry for crappy quality again (at least it's better than last time!)

Apologies for photoshop weirdness that happened while trying to fix exposure issues. Wish I had a big-ass scanner that could fit newsprint.

First gestures with a goal in mind, clean up the line and be understandable, or more readable poses, comments and critiques are welcome, dont know if they are a little too big, also advises

@ Adriana - wow, very nice gestures!! My only advice would be as you said, to clean up the lines, and get rid of the bright yellow that hurts my eyes!! Maybe switch them all to greyscale before uploading? Only other thing I could think of - maybe try doing them faster. Otherwise, I just wish mine looked as good!! Oh, speaking of which - almost forgot:

This is for the newcomers like myself who want to know how to improve - I ran across several threads last night with great life drawing demos and advice:

    KChen
    Ron Lemen (Fred Flickstone)
    E M Gist

All excellent - so glad these are still online!!

Drew slower on these (90s) and at first tried to draw limiting lines top bottom and both sides as most of those demos showed. Wow were my boxes wildly off!!! Still though drew more carefully, and started doing multiples on each page (save some money on newsprint!):

@AdrianaRamos: I wouldn't care so much about getting clean lines - the most important thing with gesture is learning about body language, and often if you focus too much on a clean look it will interfere with the feel of it. It's not meant to be something you hang up on your wall anyway (though you can if you want to! ).

    Getting back into doing these.

Some weird non-dominant (left) hand 30 second gestures 11/12/2013. I can't believe my right arm got tense over stress from using my left hand. Do you guys experience any kind of pain in your hand/ arm while sketching fast gestures?Name: 30 second gestures116_left.jpg

@ Yasmin88 if you get stressed by the time limit on the gestures, you tend to tense up, it happens to me from time to time, just got to remember not to squeez that pencil so hard .
