    Thumbs up Ossmosse's work

Hey all! I'm a 17 year old from Brighton UK, just found this site and while I wait for the teen challenges to come back, I present to you: my first post! I only recently got a tablet so I will show you the first few digital art pieces I've ever made and a few water colours/traditional stuff. Enjoy!

Some water colours I've done over the past few weeks:

    My first digital piece:

    A wip:

The start of a portait study

    WIP progress-

Not sure if I should keep or leave the black outlines on the clothing? Any criticism welcome!

A very quick figure warm up, these are just off the top of my head, I definitely need to work on them.

I think I'm finished with this one, there are things I like about it and things I really don't like, but I think it's good progress as my second digital piece. I didn't work into the background and rushed it as well.

Just a quick face study I did, just trying to copy what I saw on a random google image search
Had a hard time getting the lips and it has 1 too many flesh tones, but I am pleased

Hey there. It seems I will have the honor of making the first comment
You painted your car much better than I did, lol. You have very quickly gotten a grip of the digital medium
Those figures need more practice- If you can, do some life and gesture drawing.
Your watercolour work is really good. I especially like the can and the church.
    Keep it going!
It seems we actually live sort of close to each other. I recently moved to England (Burnham-On-Crouch, not so far from Maldon and Chelmsford)

hahaha thanks Yeah I am supposed to be focusing on anatomy and figures atm for school, so hopefully I'll be getting better at it. Yeah I just looked up where you live, not creepy at all, and you're like 2 hours away. Also, congrats on leveling up!

Your watercolors are very expressive and show a good painting style. I agree with BHDH; the figures and heads seem to need the most work. (That's often how it is!) Keep on doing what you're doing in regard to focusing on them.

Hey took your guys advice and decided to do some figure drawing practice. I used an amazing site that gives you a new model every few minutes: http://artists.pixelovely.com/practi...igure-drawing/
I started with quick 30 second gesture drawings-

Then a few minute long figure drawings-

Already I can see improvements from my last figure drawing session

A WIP, but just wondering, the guy laying on the floor seems unnatural, I tried changing the pose slightly a few times and was curious if any knew why he looked weird. Pleased with the shooter though.

Hi Ossmosse. I'm a 17 year old in America and I'm studying art too.

Your watercolors have a nice precision about them. You should transfer this into digital medium by using a hard brushes more often than soft brushes. You can blend colors better by overlaying them at different opacities. Personally I barely go under 70% softness unless I'm making special effects. Your car study looks fantastic though.

As for your last picture Im not sure if i can quite put my finger on it. Maybe you can exaggerate the poses or search gettyimages for references.

hey Ossmosse. The last sketch looks weird because you haven't established a horizon and a vanishing point. I made you a quick paintover, but it's super-sketchy.
You would benefit from reading Andrew Loomis' "Figure Drawing For All It's Worth". He speaks of this and many other useful skills in figure drawing.

Oh wow, BHDH, just looked at the first few pages on Amazon. Those figures look awesome, I need to check out your sketchbook again because they look really improved :0.

Nyvivianv- Thanks for the advice, since you're BHDH and my age, you should join in on the teen challenge. The topic this week is Cyborg Animals.

EDIT: I found a free Ebook version of the book here: http://archive.org/details/loomis_FIGURE_draw
