Thread: Banshees Sketchbook
August 16th, 2013 #1
Attn: Latest work is at the end.
First school semester is over, will be drawing a lot more, and participating in Level Up.
My name is Jessica, I live in Montreal, Canada. I heard about this site relatively recently and decided to join. I've been painting digitally since jan/feb 2013. I'll be posting as regularly as I can. I've decided to finally learn my basics, although I might not post too many studies and whatnot on my sketchbook, I will try to apply what I learn from them on some more interesting things.

realized my scout needed a but more versitality. I read somewhere that spiders sometime make a bubble out of their web so they can go in water. So I though it would be cool to apply that Idea to my little dude. Thing is they don't have webs, sooooooo its a mucus bubble.

New concept for a different breed. This would be a scout. like the one above, but i decided to go back to my first Idea and base my colony on a nydus worm type thing.

Jessica your style is pretty sweet!! I think the faces could use more feeling of the form, they feel a little flat. I think your creatures are cool, they're really creative

Nice stuff, love a comics so far (dark fantasy maybe ? Really hope so ) please make more . Thou the last dude probably cud use a shave that beard really doesn't look well with rest of a painting( I mean that it looks hm hm not well painted). Maybe knocking it down a bit so it would not be so sharply painted. Ouh try putting a bit green (greyish green) in a skin where a beard is growing it probably will take that huge contrast between bright skin and very dark hairs down a bit and should give a bit more realistic, more natural look. Give it a try
Hope it helps

Thanks for the critique Daumis. I will definitly soften that beard up. Sometime when you work on something for a while, you get used to the mistakes and overlook them, I'm happy you pointed it out.
As for the comic, yup its a dark fantasy. I finished writing all the issues recently, I will be redrawing those two pages to a better standard and keep going.

I found this lying around in my computer when I was cleaning up it's a commissioned piece. I like it, but looking at it now, I could've done a much better job on the fabric

I thought up a little scene of Bellerophon battling the chimera when I was at work. I did a little sketch as to not forget my idea
I tried drawing directly from the sketch, but I really felt like I needed to flesh out my creature before I moved on. This is where I'm at with what I want the chimera to look like. ON WARDS TO PAINTING!
