Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
these paintings were around 45-50mins each any crits are more then welcome
the first one doesn't look like a speed painting, tho timewise it is.
the 2nd painting looks a bit bland with that huge empty space and boring perspective and rather flat ship. Nice concept though
Love the first one.. first i though that spiral was a 3d object hehe nice work
Second one i dont like that much though. The building on the spaceship (or whatever u wanna call a ship that size) dont look right. They are too dark compared to the ship itself. They look to be behind the ship and not on it.
The perspective of the plane in the 2nd one is wrong if you want it to look parallel to the ground.
The vanishing point would be on the horizon.
I guess the floating city in the background is supposed to be far away?
The sense of depth kinda isn't there. Maybe the sharp details make it look too close.
The flying vehicle thingie at the bottom of the picture suffers from the composition I guess.
in the first pic the screw took 20 of the 45mins  , it was a real pain in the ass but it worked out i guess. i still dont like the hightlights on it it looks 'glassy'.
Signature, do think i should've just dropped the platform? what would you have done?
I would just fix the perspective and "move the floating city further away".
This is the direction I'd take. Quick and dirty but hopefully it gets the points across.
Doesn't mean you have to leave the vehicle out and of course you can keep the clouds.
wow thanks alot signature that helps out huge, thanks for taking the time to redo the layout, means alot :chug:
Time? 10 minutes, mouse/Gimp?
You are welcome
But be careful. The palette needs more colors to be interesting.
The perspective is not necessarily 100% correct.
Still a lot of work to do ...
nice Signature. Much better
I think you should definitely try to adapt it to the pic signature has shown. Are you sure to keep the horizontal plateau at the foreground though? If you move the camera closer so you don;t see the plateau beginning i think the picture would be easier to read, the horizontal lines at that place bother me somewhat.
Maybe someone can offer a helpful crit as to why these lines are breaking the composition? I understand the move of the flying city and i like the location of the other city, i just miss something in the foreground and the horizontal/vertical lines for wall and plateau are bothering me
... hmm seem to be repeating myself, time to go to bed i guess ;-)
Power is nothing without intelligence.
*used signatures overpaint to overpaint ^^*
in my opinion you gotta stress the impression of depth... (this would be easier by introducing a second vanishing point).
use values and colors to show depth.... the father it is from the viewer the lower is the contrast and it melts into atmosphere (haze)
i moved the ship towards the platform only because i thought its meant to be a station. if it aint ... dont move it there! make clear what the platform is supposed to be used as.
