woooooooooow, man! I always liked your anatomy thread, but this left me absolutely speechless. The style it's.......................it's like nothing like I have ever seen (maybe except for that dude in the starlight videoclip) and yet it makes perfect sense.
You, sir, are pretty much out there!
ive seen these for some time. i just never really had na urge to reply . Your style reminds me of monty python. I like your color ones best but the style is sweet anyway. maybe try to do more full body ones in that style.
u have quite an imagination and we can all tell your using it to it's full potential...
love the black & white ink, cross hatch technique, disfiguring the faces, religious refrences (upside cross daring!!) it's all so eye catching and gives such a historical religious feeling!!! you've made me a fan... love the pastels too... keep it up !!
I love that profile! looks so sweet. I like the tiny forms inside the hatching on the face, almost like graphic design inside the rendering. I prefer this thread to the flesh thread I think...(well I know these two threads are made with different purposes) these finished pen drawings have real character in them!
Hi there Mentler. this truely left me awstruck.
This is amazing, your my hero I must say, you handle your drawings with what I call pefection (ok, nobody is perfect, but your darn close).
Your threads are among the best for inspiration, they way you work . It's great fun to test in my own drawings when I get stuck or tierd. And just look at the way these heads are drawn, fiddiling with details in their apperance. Darn.
Now i have been looking through the whole thread, i havent had the time to read all the post yet, but i will do this eventually.
Looking through all the portraits of wicked and crocked priests, monks, bishops, cardinals and so on is really a travel throughout the dark corners of the dark ages.
One can really feel the blasphemical atmosphere throughout the travel that one takes in this thread, and i really like the dragon/devil designs at the end, the creature att page 5 looks like a chimera dragon cross over, really fantastic, more of them designs would be wounderfull to see, but i guess you cant controll this part of your artistic soul, the darkside can be hard to penetrate by will but one knows that it lurks in the dark sides of the mind, waiting to release itself whenever it finds a weakness in the bearer, a hole in his mind to manifest itself at full power...
Very well, superb thread, you really are a master =)
I just looked through the first two pages, and dear God are these gorgeous. This odd style is sight for sore eyes! I'd see the rest, but I'm very tired right now (I just built a table, don't ask). I did read the story though, and caught wind of a book. Any way I can still get this? Eternally grateful for the inspiration and any help with the book. (P.s.- thanks for stopping by my SB!)
Edit- Now that I'm a bit more concious, I have more to say. I've been many religions, and everytime, there is a member who shocks me. People use religion as an excuse to do horrid things. I'm currently Catholic, and when I went to more (Let's say "Orthdox") parishes I sometimes considered changing religions again. These drawings really hit a nerve with me because of my experiance. As its been said before, these really have a soul. Especially in that time period there was alot of corruption. Just fantastic stuff, tell me if I can still get the book.
