    Leveling Up!

I've been contemplating the idea of starting a sketchbook here and finally got the courage to do it now...

Up till now, I've been drawing mostly whatever I felt like, and whenever something looked out of place I would just use photoshop to make it look right - this method worked for a period of time, but recently I'm starting to grow ever discontent with what's happening to my drawings. In short, my lack of foundations finally started to show through, and it's hindering my drawing process.

Well I'm going to get serious about the foundations now :3 The biggest problems I have now are
    - Bad anatomy/structures because I rely on imagination tooooo much
    - Dirty/chaotic coloring - not sure how I can help with this one...I've read some basic color theories online but they didn't seem to help much
    - Slow progress - I can't seem to refine my drawing past the "rough colors with big brushes" step...I think this has to do with both patience and a good grasp on how to draw general objects well.

That about sums up what I want to work on the most right now. NOW SKETCH AWAYYYYYYYY
[I usually draw in a more anime style, and I've noticed this is not a common style artists employ on this forum...hope it's okay O.O]

[EDIT] Lolll finally figured out why I couldn't upload icons...looks like the icon's the only image that can stay in this post :3

60-second poses - ran into a few that caused some troubles due to perspectives

Finished the theme challenge. Really went out of my comfort zone on this one...still not used to drawing things more complicated than just plain figures, and ended up messing up things I would have been able to do better like proportions and shading...Need more practice!

And another drawing - tried to use more solid color blocks, because I suspected my drawings rarely look finished because they look 'fuzzy', and outlines aren't defined very well.

I only had photoshop so had to make do with one of its square brushes. More hands + portrait, tried to capture necessary details with as few brushstrokes as possible but got lost half way...I think I'm on the right track though. This might help with making my colorings less fuzzy...

    ----Update----
Cleaned up the portrait. Colors are a bit off. Mayhaps cooler than the original photo..? Not entirely confident with the hair OJL

One-hour theme challenge with friends. How this works - we made a database of keywords, and when someone wants to play that person picks a random coordinate, and put in the corresponding keyword. We then have 5 minutes for brainstorming, then 1 hour to draw something that contains all the generated keywords. I find this a good exercise for imagination.

    Keywords [assassin] [night] [buns]

Tried to make the initial sketch more precise this time, and ran out of time to color, therefore failing the keyword [night].. T.T

Thanks! (((>v<))) I think it really depends on your preference - I also sketch with a pencil and paper, but need a ton of warm ups before I can really feel comfortable...maybe because there's no ctrl+z?...I shouldn't rely on it too much lollll

Nice SB nnatusu. Your linework is very nice and those hand-studies are pretty sweet.

Reallllly loving the hands, but I would really suggest you look on cleaning up that Facial anatomy. Because of your preferred style, when it comes to the studies your eyes seem to be bigger and wider apart (I have the same problem)
I am looking forward to seeing more from you though!
