    Sketchbook pro opacity settings

Hello, I'm not very good at digital art but there's something that keeps bothering me and I think its either me or sketchbook pro (though its most likely me.) Please set me straight

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it seems that anything under 5% opacity is just too solid to blend colors and even 1% opacity seems too strong.

Below me is an example of what I'm saying, I used a soft brush at various degrees of opacity. I've heard of people using 30% to 80% opacity to blend. For me anything past 10% using soft-solid-hard edge is impossible. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
