    ROUND #297 – Venomous Violet Vine-Hunter

    topic:

    ROUND #297 – Venomous, Violet Vine-Hunter

It's been too long since I just gave you guys some adjectives and let your imaginations do the rest so our alliterative adjective assemblage this time around will be the above. I'd like to make it clear that Vine-Hunter is very much up for interpretation. They could use vines as part of their hunting process, imitate vines to sneak up on prey, or they may just be the predators of a vine-heavy ecosystem. Hell, maybe the creature literally hunts for something growing on vines (perhaps this could be the first wine connoisseur creature in COW). It's up to you, but throw some vines in there... for me.

    Round Requirements:

    - The creature must be at least 75% Violet
    - The creature must be venomous
    - The creature must hunt and vines must be involved in that hunt in some way

    Deadline:

    May 28th, 7:00pm PST (GMT -8 )

Guess I'll kick things off? Some ideas, focusing on the one consuming the lower half of the page:

Here's my initial sketch. Kind of a cross between an octopus, cameleon, alien, hammer-head shark (and probably some other stuff)

@cmoschler Love the flying squirrel, ape, manta ray thing?

So is this dead? I just found it and thought of maybe contributing, but the deadline is the 28th and nobody has a final out.

I hope we get an extension on this. 2 days after I started this piece the conceptart servers went down. I guess I'll try to finish it anyway.

There most likely will be an extension, so no need to worry...

been working on summink while the forums were down, this little guy mimics flowers that grow on jungle vines to capture pollinating prey...

    my take

I probably wont have time to finish this idea but I liked the idea of hiding in a weeping willow type plant or something pretending to be part of it and then lashing out

I see the deadline is set to a couple days ago, but this one seems still active and I cannot find a new C.O.W.
Can I consider this one still active, or..?

Sorry if being a bit daft

YUZworks: not daft at all, the site has been down so an extension to this topic will most likely be made. Although mods, Si_Swe and (lark, haven't made any official announcements yet.

anyways since this topic is indefinitely active as it stands...here's another update for my vine hunter...changing things around and stuff...

Gnarly concept 0Hayes. I'd love to see a better render of the creature (or at least it's head) though.

@Rob Powell: Thanks, I've already started drawing .
I like your concept btw. It's very believable or real (if fantasy can be real)

Okay, so the due date has long past, but because the site was down for so long I'm going to give an extension until next tuesday before I put the poll up. That makes the new due date Tuesday June 11, 7:00pm PST(GMT-8 ).

I have nothing but Microsoft Pain(t) and a trackpad, but this is what I thought of when I saw the title of this thread.

Yo what's up guys? damn sad that the forums keep going up and down like this. Really keeps messing up these weekly challenges. Any idea on when this one wraps up?

*edit* somehow I missed your post Simon, just noticed it now. So it wraps up today, cool! Might join in on the next one

Due to some software issues and render suckage (it's been a while) I won't be able to finish this one on time
might upload it later though, as the trainings really good for me
