That series of books really is worth a read, even as an adult. I still remember them fondly, and its been years since I've read them.
I really like your sketch. If I can make a suggestion: Jadis is not your typical witch, so her face which is currently a bit ..well, witchy, should probably look regal: Think of a very manipulative, cruel queen who has usurped the throne from somebody else. I'm not sure if that's of any help to you, but if you haven't read the books, or watched the movies it'd be easy to think traditional witch.

Awesome starts from everyone. I'm going for a start basic and add all the pretties in as I go approach. Finding it very fun ^^

Hi everyone, this is my initial rough design as well as a fix up on the anatomy of my character.
I'm currently working on the color now.

Hi, Here's my little update. I haven't done much today - I have to work on making it not look so flat, lighting isn't one of my strong points. Almost everything I draw looks a bit flat and or washed out. I want some of those Andrew Loomis books everybody is talking about. My mom used to have a huge box full of them that I used to study when I was little, and she gave them away! They are so expensive now.

More progress. I'll be removing the line soon as well as refining the background a little bit more. Still have quite a bit of rendering to do. Playing with blending options.
