-some stuff for the teen challenge "Alien Pet Show", the deadline for which passed while the forum was down. I'm too late anyway. What I originally intended to be an illustration became an excercise in 3-point-perspective, and I even tried something with the light. The four-armed dude is a guy I wanted to be in that picture as well. I kinda like him, although his muscles puzzle me.

-my progress on this one. I feel like I should have finished it by now. I've been adding, changing and removing foreground elements to show some scale, but I don't really feel like I got it right.

I went to the workshop in London, had a great time and learned a great deal
to celebrate, I decided to make my first gif animation. So here's a practice gif. I will definitely make some more advanced ones in the future- it's so much fun to see him moving

Already quite a lot of improvements since the 17th of May update (Which was also my birthday )

"Never regret thy fall from grace, O' spirit of Icarian flight, for the greatest tragedy of them all to face, is to never feel the burning bright"
Believe my lies, for I tell the truth about them. Or would you rather me lie about telling the truth?

Hey Barbara it was great to meet you at the workshop. I think you have really caught an element of surprise when your animated man's arms go up which is good. I've enjoyed looking at your work and I am looking forward to warching your progression, so please keep posting.

    Summer Update

    Hey.
I've travelled to North America with my family. It took several weeks but now I am back with a tasty selection from my sketchbook, that has now run out of pages. (it took two months in total)
There are also a few things from before I left.
the attachment manager is acting a bit queer. If it doesn't work now I'll come back later tonight and fix it.
I hope you're all having a great summer

    Corinthian Helmet Study

After looking at the sketchbook of Yuzero, I felt a small surge of envy at the skill, and thought to myself, "wait, why have I never done any studies? I might be decent myself" so I embarked on this one.
Probably a couple of hours, interrupted by watching Neon Genesis Evangelion at times.

Thanks Bowandbrush I really appreciate you taking the time to write that.
It's been ages since I did a finished piece, so I jumped right on the Redtail's Dream fanart contest (it even has money prizes, oh joy)
I had a bunch of ideas, but picked these two. One features the main cast as playing cards on a table, the other the two main characters (young man and dog) jumping over a chasm. WIP, obviously.

I went perspective crazy placing that whisky glass on the table, did some progress with a sour taste in my mouth- it's a bit off, not as good as I want it. Either way, it will be good enough for now, for this piece (will post tomorrow)
to lift my spirits I decided to sketch a rugby tackle from a photo reference. What a wonderful sport. I may begin playing myself, now that I moved to England.

come to think of it, sport stills are great for studying dynamic, out-of-balance poses. I definitely need to do more of these.

this feels so disappointing, thinking of how much time I've spent on this. the lines don't quite intersect and I don't know if that's why the glass keeps looking off.....

I love how quickly your figures and poses have improved! maybe the glass is off because you have no darker contrasting areas, all of the pictures of glasses I looked at have dark linings or patches. Anyway, good studies and good luck

Quite amazing progress Barbara! Looks like the Hampton book did a lot of good Impressed.

I'd say just work on giving the figures more definition of the musculature. Making it read better with lineweights, and form indication via a lightsource.

Hey, thanks for the comments folks.
John- you're totally right, the muscles need definition. I kind of omitted that because I haven't studied those muscles enough, hah.
Woodkid- aye sir, I will. I have a batch of skulls here for your viewing pleasure

    So here we have
    - a random thing I did for my little brother 'cause he's away at school and I'm in England. It's a Wall Filler and it looks terrible in daylight.
-skulls. I found this thing on deviantart http://clz.deviantart.com/art/Differ...kull-370926521 and started drawing them. More pages of skull studies will follow -I'm not even halfway through.
-some life drawing sketches from school. They're 10 minute poses. I really need to work on using that time to my advantage.
oh yea, and I finished the car for the Teen Challenge 200. The resolution on the site is the full res T_T I don't know what I was doing, but a little more detail wouldn't have hurt.
