    painter 9 and Ryan Church

Am I the only one that saw that message on Ryan Churches site about him demonstrating the new painter 9?
It was there about a week ago or so.

Just trying to find out more about the new painter 9 features.

Yup, that and an inbuilt mp3 player. Other then that, painter8 is perfect for what i do, but i´m looking forward to being pleasently surprised by version 9.

I was just wondering. But I wouldnt mind a couple of the watercolor features in the digital watercolor area. (having a hard time wraping my small mind around the watercolor stuff in 8.

But other that that I guess it is close to perfect. So what will be in 9 to make me want it?

well, just about the only thing id dearly like to see is that there at least is the possibility of using an actual painter interface instead of that photoshoppy "everythings hidden away in submenus" stuff they have been doing with painter 8.

that submenu thing might be okay for a simplistc painting engine like photoshops, and he management of filters and functions...
but for a complex engine like painters, having all the features directly at hand is best. right now, every change on a bruch is royally fucking my workflow i in the ass. im not sure if that is good.

they should do it just as they did with the papers dialogue for example: there is that fancy papers button in the tool bar, but for the old time painter users, there is the possibility of having the oldschool papers palette. i want it just this way with all the brush controls versus their leprous brush creator.

Being able to connect to and collab with other users online similar to the way you can in open canvas would be nice.

    Painter 9

I would like to see Greyscale mode instead of having RGB all the time. What's the point of using RGB mode when you're doing black/white or grayscale art? RGB hogs up more memory especially the fact when using large brushes as well.
It would be nice if Painter 9 gives us that ability to switch color modes and perhaps Web based features to save images in GIFs or JPEGs directly from the Painter environment without having to switch to Photoshop.
And a graphical image of a mixing colors palette, so that you can take one color and mix with another "live" on screen.

When is the update coming out?

It'd be nice if they fixed the thing in Painter 8 where occasionally it can't open painter.set. I reallly like how it imitates mediums, but they all have an opacity adjuster that doesn't do shit. It makes sense when it's "opaque qouache" but why doesn't opacity change with other stuff. I'm sure there's some way in the program of changing it so that it does change. But if you can't change it get rid of the opacity slider because it's a tease.

If anyone buys Painter 9 and wants rid of version 8 (or has 7) lying around, preferrably going cheaply but I realise its still gonna cost me then please get in contact.

Looked on ebay but the copies were all dodgy, so any help appreciated.

    PM me etc.

P.S. I'm in the UK so if theres language differences then only UK ones please.

    Thanks again!
