12 maps of a Game of Thrones, created for the Lands of Ice and Fire map folio

In 2012 I was commissioned to illustrate the official maps of Westeros and Essos for the world of Game of Thrones. Each map is 3 feet by 2 feet in size, 72 square feet of maps in total, and they're sold as a 12 map folio called the Lands of Ice and Fire.

There's a bunch of articles on my site about the process behind the maps, as well as some detail shots. The maps are all © George RR Martin, 2012, used with permission

Warning – the last map contains spoilers as it shows the character journeys up to the end of A Dance With Dragons.

@Care: It's there - check up and right from the desolation of Valyria on the map of Slaver's Bay. There's a big city at the mouth of the Rhoyne - that's Volantis. There's a detail of the city here.

@Black Spot: Yep, this was a beast of a commission. It was a bit of a dream come true, but those cities were daunting.

wow awesome! I am currently working on maps and man they are a pain! Thanks for posting the tutorials on your site that will help a lot though I have been trying the cartographers guild as well...but the problem there seems to be a very very slow server
