    Hira's Sketchbook (Updated 5/20/13)

    Hello! I'm Hira, and welcome to my sketchbook. I'm 18 and have a long background of drawing anime art, but I don't feel like I learn anything from drawing like that anymore. The last time I tried making a sketchbook here was almost exactly two years ago, so I figured I should just make a new one. I've been doing more studies lately, so I was hoping I could start using this site more... I'm really hoping to improve, and critiques are appreciated!

    Some Speed paints:

    are you color picking or choosing colors by eye? cause if its the later, your really good at seeing and interpreting color.

    @ deputyballer: I color picked a bit for the mountains one because the colors were really confusing, but I don't think I did it much for the street one.

    @Mewball: Thanks!! I'll try to upload more.

    I really wanted to upload last night but conceptart was down for me the whole time. I did a loooot of gestures the day before yesterday. I did even more yesterday but they were on paper and didn't scan well. :C

    @ Deceptive: Ahh, I knew I was forgetting something!! No, the last one isn't color picked at all. I really made sure I didn't because I felt bad for color picking the mountain one! xD And thank you!

    I didn't get too much done yesterday unfortunately :< was kind of a bad day for me. Just some character designs/fashion practice I did and a few quick andrew loomis studies. And orcs. I really want to try more portraits today. Andrew Loomis' Drawing the Head and Hands really does help me draw better face shapes...

    And a really terrible speedpaint I did from imagination. In less than 1hr.

    Soo I've been reading some Bridgeman and I'm really liking it so far! I seem to do better with this than Andrew Loomis' stuff...at least so far.. xD so here are some bridgeman studies and a figure drawing I did yesterday for a 30 day challenge I'm doing.

    Ahhh thank you guys!! I'm sorry I've been MIA lately. I was especially thrown off by the site being down so much.. u w u; I haven't gotten around to doing any landscapes again in a while... oops. But here, have a speedpaint from imagination (i.e. a terrible speedpaint), some character designs and some animal and facial studies.

    Hey Hira, really nice start to your SB. I really like your sketches and faces. Nothing I can offer I don't think you'll eventually or have already considered. Just keep working at it. Looks real promising!

    I really like the stuff that you've put up so far, especially the colored pieces in your last post It's good that your studying too, just keep up the good work!

    I swear one day I'll be good. I swear one day I will be proud of my work. When that day comes, I'll need to kick my ass and try harder.

    @I STRaY I - Thank you!

    @StressCavity - Thanks! C:

    Unfortunately I don't have any colored pieces today... u v u I still haven't gotten around to more speedpaint studies or designs, grr. I did a lot of perspective studies the other day, really helped me feel more comfortable with backgrounds. Also a bunch of my characters, and me trying to draw with small(er) eyes. c: I've got a lot more stuff in my sketchbook, if I could find a way to show you guys clearly..

    Yup, nice start to your sketchbook : ) Sketches are looking great and your colors too. You mentioned earlier about color-picking and I'm not sure if you're still doing it, but if you are, I would sugest stopping it. I know it's sometimes hard to see and put down the colors from a ref pic, but even if it is you'll get better at it much faster if you just rely on your eyes and not use the color-picker. Anyway, Great stuff and hope you keep this up : )
