Jesus Christ man. These are beyond insane. One thing that you have that is insanely hard for artists to obtain, is a consistant style. This, coupled with the insane intricacy of your compositions, really makes your work enjoyable to look at. Fucking badass, especially that speedpainting.

A quick q: When creating human characters, do you use any sort of guides / markings to ensure that your proportion is correct?

For someone who uses no refrences though, your figurative work is really really really great. Somethings might look alittle odd once in awhile, but still they are only sketchs, I wish i could draw the body that good with no refrence. With alot of your pieces, you capture the feeling that you had a reference right there.

affect - hey thanks man, glad you enjoy the pics so much. i tend to go crazy with my linework, really all over the place, so i never did use any guides except for a loose gesture. the result is that i over-exaggerate my forms, espicially the arms, so my guide is just cramp everthing together to a more portional correct form, a mental hadicap. im also life drawing and studying alot more to help me correct my faults.
matt smith - thanks dude! still trying to nail some stuff down.
    xia -
cartoonfox - thanks man! always nice to get noticed.
one2hit - sure, come out to the sketch group next time.

...anyway, been sitting around with some sketches and messing around with them in ps. here's one, i'll post somemore in the very near future.

Hard to think of a comment that you might not already have heard - I've had an interest in your stuff since your stylish entry for the last Thunderdome. Anyway, eveything here is glorious. Looking forward to seeing more..!

matt dixon - thanks bro, im flattered that you remembered my td entry, which seemed like an eternity ago.
    affect - thanks.
crash - heh, i must admit i saw the problem when i sketched it, but i just sort of got lazy with it. then it made me laugh because he looked ridiculous. thank you for the comments.

more new stuff, if you havent heard i got called out on my use of monochromatic color schemes, so in perparation for my mini-thunderdome showdown so im trying out somemore color stuff, so you'll be seeing some pretty ugly shit in next few days as i try to ram color down my throat. just a warning.

No idea why but that house in the clouds really confused me.... It didn't look like any of your other stuff. Very elegant and really nice lines, but this. It just caught my attention.

I'd really like to see some perspective stuff from you. Keep going man, you rock.

    Nobody likes you, Cake.
Just because you are a good artist, doesn't mean that people will like you. You got it all wrong kid.
Doug and I will drug you and eat your brain on monday. *Picture yourself instead of Ray Liotta...then Dough and I standing beside you with the BIG smile, "Bon appetite!"* In the mean time, it's time for me to go get drunk in the sun.

you know what i noticed? all your characters seem to be in more or less the same stance, facing more or less the same way.. im sure its a subconscious thing, but in case you ever feel like your work is getting stale, its something to keep in mind..

    hey prostate

I really enjoy the sketches and digital painting you have in your sketchbook. I enjoy the fact that you work loosely. I am pretty anal about getting everthing flat, and occasionally forget that painting loosley can work to your advantage when creating a mood or building form. I just had to say thanks for the reminder.

loved you're comments guys! gave me a couple of things to think about, for one i was in some sort of comfort zone that i realized i really needed to get out of. to that end im really putting some effort on pushing my ideas and subject matter broader then before. it may not seem that way right now, but im trying and its on my mind. thank you guys for your ecouragment.

kasper p - thanks! hmm, i dont do much stuff like the house, so maybe its because i havent matured that line of thought as much as my figure work.
cartoonfox - thank you, even though you're technically the enemy.
obid619 - thank you for the comment! i'll try to push myself in directions.
    xia - pfft
    nmcleod - thank you.
main loop - ack! its so embarrasing finding out something like this. thank you for pointing this out, this one of the main things i'll be keeping in mind.
jetpack42 - thanks bro, and good luck in your battle.
    stokes - appreciate it bro.
lono - thanks bud! you're still da man.
gary - thank you for the words bro.
young paddy1 - hah thanks for the ecouragment.
rollb82 - thank you, i keep loose, but maybe too loose at times. having patience and some control is key too.
WillSchnevel - glad you enjoy it!
    van - well, thank you.

whew, well here's some some stuff. hope you enjoy!

    did you hear that?

that was the sound of dirty_c dropping a load in his pants.

ok, you caught me...i did it.

that top painting totally rocks. subject, mood, coloring (the hot and cold lights). its nuts! that is the type of art I aspire to.

when you draw a whole bunch of faces like that I think you could really push the composition. Have you seen wes's latest dump? His pages are sooooo interesting!! I feel like you have the ability to make your pages really interesting...maybe tap into some of that power?

you could even get away with pushing some values darker.

    in any case...sweet update.

I'm really a big ol' fan of the speed paints. Ever consider compiling them into one supreme collection? ALL of them.
