Awesome drawings ! Do you use reference for the character designs?
Mooore Stuff, Now I just need to scan my school sketchbook and whatever I post will be new stuff from now on.. Concepts and some studies, Tibetan Woman is a study, rest is concepts if not I will have written a text saying it's a study..
Latest stuff from my school sketchbook, now I need to draw some new stuff..
If you have any tips on any studies I need to do or things i should focus on improving please tell me I would really appreciate it!!
Wip of a study i'm doing on a sculpture in B&W, trying to learn about light, values, etc, I started with lines and when I'm done I'll post the steps I did..
I'll try to do one of these B&W sculpture studies a week. (tips on more weekly studies are welcome)
I'm trying to actually analyze the the lighting, shadows, and not just copy what I see but it's hard, but hopefully i'll learn something, at the very least I feel I'm improving little by little painting on the wacom (I mostly do lines...)
I should probably have gotten a few earlier WIP images of the value steps, then maybe I could get some tips if I'm doing everything in the "right" order :p, I tried to start big and go small, but it's easy to get caught up in details, but I think I did an okay job, anyways, back to painting!
Critiques and Comments are VERY welcome
Finally done with my sculpture study
C&C very welcome!
I learned alot about painting techniques in photoshop and hopefully I learned something about lighting to
These are the steps I did
Line Drawing :
Value Painting :
I used mixer brush for the clothing, I haven't really used it before (and when I have, I haven't liked it) but a friend told me to try it and I'm happy I listened x)
I drew this lighter and with a light blue color( so i can draw cleaner, black lines on top) but I figured it would be hard too see so I filled the sketches with black color..
I might try to finish one of these, and in that case paint it aswell
I liked the sniper idea I did but I think the legs look kinda off, and I'm not sure how to fix it, any tips?, I realize I need to study more anatomy, both animal and human...
You seem to be quite character focused and you're coming out with some nice concepts due to your focus in this particular area. It would be nice to see you study one type of culture at a time, making notes on their way of making their armour/ clothing, the materials they used etc. You could study chinese armour and then make a chinese warrior at the end of it to show what you've learnt. If you learn in this structured way you will have a clear understanding of costumes and how to dress a character and you will know what you know and what you dont know which will help you improve quickly. Try going out of your comfort zone too, draw some buildings or anything you wouldn't usually. Keep up the work
thanks for the tips!, I'll check the library and see if I can find any interesting stuff!
And yeah, I should try doing some buildings, and vehicles, kinda scary though but I'll try anyways!
Anatomish study, mostly trying to learn how to color skin... was going to put a cyborg head or a gas mask on her or something but I couldn't bother , maybe later... now i'll start on something else or go back to something else.
