    IDW # 229 : Lantern of Clear Sight

    Lantern of Clear Sight
    Deadline: Sunday, February 21

    It can be hard to tell if your eyes are deceiving you in a land where magic rules- invisibility spells and cloaks, charms to change appearance, and illusions just to name a few ways it can be done. This lantern gives the gift of clear sight everywhere its rays touch.

    Brief:
    1. Design and draw a Lantern of Clear Sight.
    2. That's it... now draw!

    Sketched out a few rough ideas. Just trying to get a direction going. Any thoughts on which one might look the best cleaned up and rendered out?

    Also, is the deadline on the 21st, or on Sunday? Cause it can't be both

    The top right has silver mirrors, which "cannot lie" that reflect the light of the lantern and filter out all deception.
    And the bottom right has several lenses it uses to filter the light.

    Hush, little child, don't be afraid;
    As shadows twist and mind plays tricks;
    Won't you please come out to play;
    Not real screams, you're imagining things;
    Find what was hidden by the light of day;
    These nightmares are real, only in your mind;
    How slowly time ticks, when you're held by pixi tricks.

    Here's what I'm working on. It's a staff lantern. Great sketches from everyone so far.

    sorry im late. just finished. the pain.

    had a cool story i update tommoro

    In the fairly far off future, a galatic war is ongoing between an alien force and humanity. Humanity is slowly losing ground and the war. In a distant mining colony, The Outcast Squad have been without communications and are the sole survivors on an increasingly brutal slugfest for control of the main city on the barren world.

    Highly trained, and ready to fight, the marines are up against an especially deceptive alien force, able to use optical illusion technology and mirror imaging tech to dupe and confuse. Their solution lies in the Prometheus Generator. A powerful yet volatile technology that is used to counteract the aliens powerful and mystical abilities.

    It contains a compound known as isotene trisophorous, a solid glowing material that is liquid at the planets air temp. This material is the key to being able to detect the alien abilities. However....

    It needs to be heated, in order for a chemical reaction to take place that allows the compound to do its noble work. For this, they created this lantern: The Prometheus Generator.

    It is highly explosive, flammable, a huge risk in the combat zone, yet must be protected at all costs, it allows numerous tactical advantages when up against the powerful alien foes.

    It has a strap for 1 man carrying,
    A quick release system to manually open the light rods,
    Sensors, and HUD display
    Lightly armoured
    Dual firm grips for two man carrying operation
    Communications unit
    A generator for powering the lantern and revealing the alien threat.
    Cooling fans and air ventilation units

    As a result, Many marines must sacrifice their lives to protect this invaluable item and to ensure that they have a supply of this important chemical compound. The names of the fallen are etched into the armoured casing, a reminder of their gift, and the cost of freedom.

    I'll allow it- but please let us know how it's a lantern. It's a bit mysterious right now.

    Note: I'm going to leave voting as it is however.
