Good book goin'
Your stuff has strong rhythmic relationships. No crit for now--question??? Is it hard to start sketching stuff in painter???
Can I practice the same kind of thing in photoshop???
Thinking about getting digital!!!!

mentler - if you have a tablet and you've drawn with it before it shouldnt be hard to sketch in painter. its actually a bit easier to draw in painter only cuz you can rotate the canvas around so you can make nice strokes without stressing out your hand. i sometimes sketch in photoshop too which is also easy...

don, this is a sweet thread you've got going. i always enjoy your posts. as far as crits go, the only thing that strikes me is when you draw faces in perspective, you really don't show the nose. you've got the bottom section in shadow, but in perspective you really see the line of the nose....an example is on this one
the girl's head on the bottom, second from the left. I feel like i should be seeing her nose coming up to her forehead, or at the very least, some of it. (i see the sketchy lines, but i think it should be hit with a dark one).
Of course, this is subjective, and maybe just a stylistic choice. So feel free to completely disregard.
again, great work, i loves yer art.

jetpack42 - ya i can see what your talkin about, but your right when you mentioned its more subjective and just a stylistic choice. im just trying to figure out different ways to draw certain feature on the face without puttin to much in... simple experimenting! thankyou for the crits!!!
more crits..makes me better!!! ..rip my stuff apart!!! :machinegu

The Elbow thing!!
Had to take a look---something I always look for---missed it when I look at your stuff before---he is right very minor though---remember elbow is end of bone (ulna) that attaches to humerus that runs thru center of upper arm---need to try it under a little to show the bottom of triceps that attach
to it!!! Oh well thought I would join in!

heres is a project for class about what patriotism means to me...im not sure if i should put it in my sketches...so ill just leave a link to it and you can crit it if you want to check it out. (i think its got too much going on..but im pressed for time and this is all i can do for now...)

you do a nice job with the values on the OC sessions. when i blur my eyes the images hold up pretty well...

jetpack42 - thanks, ya for the patriotism project..the students had to write a paragraph about what patriotism means to them, then incorporate that text into the image. it doesn't really have to be read as it should be more mixed in with the design of the piece. but anyways my overall statement here was that being patriotic means a love and loyalty for your country..blah blah blah..so i have this little girl (seeing as little girls tend to be more loyal and compassionate) is raising her hand (the hand raised could mean that shes raising her hand for america, she wants to be seen, shes here for her country..etc) then i have her blind folded just to represent a trust or blind trust and what i mean by blind is we only know so much of the truth thats happening in america even though we stand behind it 110%!!! ...something along those lines...
thanks for being interested in it jet!...man i gotta draw

hey you got some nice stuff going on in here man. nice character work. youve definetely got potential and seem to be going in the right direction. Id love to see some enviroment work. Its easy to get stuck doing characters and just forget about the whole enviroment thing but its incredibly hard to get a job as just a character concept guy. That is if your looking for a job in the future...

mentler - ya action sketch was done without ref. oh and oc is opencanvas, another painting program thats real small and works pretty well. go check out the opencanvas thread for more info.
stewart one - id love to see some environments too! i too slip into the character mode. ive actually been gettin more refs for environments especially buildings so maybe within the next weeks or so there will be some environments posted up!
thanks guys!!!!! :chicken:
