Wow..just wow! I am simply amazed by the masterpiece! Its an Abra-maestra really I'm stunned. I used to to do charcoal paintings as my hobby but when I saw this it blows my mind! Kudos to the heavenly hand who made the piece above.

Found this thread searching around the forums. Never saw anything like this and found it pretty amazing. Really cool sticky and just flat out super informative.

Hey Keith, I like what you did with your paint over in upping the overall key of the painting and doing a better treatment of highlights. The only thing I will add, and please bear in mind I am a newbie to digital painting, but I am not as fond of the white edged highlights on the openings you added to the wall behind the figure. I get adding the opening and using the cool outside light as a compliment/ contrast but those edges seem overly sharp. Maybe that is how they would be and I am totally off base but anyway, nice job.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I try not to overdo it with the rim light, but it is something that I tend to enjoy using, especially in images that are a nit more fantastical. I feel they flesh out the depth of an image so if someone is skimming through or only sees the picture at a distance, they can quickly discern the foreground, mid-ground and background.

Keith, you know what I think bothers me slightly on the openings and highlight is the fact there is no sense of depth on the opening itself. If it is a stone wall, there would be more of a gradual highlight coming into the opening on the highlight/ reflected light side which would create the depth. Maybe I am seeing it incorrectly though.

Ah, I think I see what you mean. My thought was that the light was coming behind the warrior. I fudged it a bit for dramatic effect, but I wanted the light to be behind him to give a slight outline.

Crap, I can't believe I am posting this as I am not very good with these tools yet and I don't have time to mess with it at work but here is what I am trying to describe, simulate. If someone much better tan me could do this right, I don't think it would pull away from your intent. Anyway, I am probably beating this beyond reason as it was not even that big of a deal to begin with.

Ok, I see what you mean. I really, really like that. Even though it's subtle I think it helps the warrior stand out even more. That's a change I would definitely keep in there.

Funny, I was not offering an opinion and he did not really ask, it was one of those type of orders, kind of like the way my 5 year old daughter would "ask". Of course, I am just kidding as well.

Here's one that LaCan just did for me. Really amazing. I'm so grateful for the time that went into this, and it really inspires me to get my color process to this level.

Received a nice paintover from /boruno in the Digital Painting subreddit and wanted to share! Mine is on the left.

    Their comment:
"I would advise you to be a bit careful with "rim lighting", that white edge used to define objects. In my opinion, it works well on photos, but no so much in paintings, where you should rather work with object--background contrast. For instance, you could make the dress behind the rightmost hand brighter in order to contrast with the darker shaded fingers. Eliminating white and black lines would help reduce the "noise" on the painting."

    Hi weinercze,

this thread is to showcase paintovers that have already been done. If you want to ask for a paintover, you should start a new thread in the critique center.

    Hi Guys!
    Please I need help with

    1) Choosing the right colors
    2) Composition
    3) Anatomy / Pose ( I have a general overall feeling that it is quite "stiff", like there is a lack of dynamism )
    4) How to get rid of line-dependancy

The character is Killer Jane - part of a development I´m doing for my own comic.
I´ve put a fully "rendered" image and the flat colors next to it.

    Many thanks!
