    Enviroment Practice

    Hi,

I have a problem when drawing, I always quit at a certain stage. I have never completely rendered a drawing and I do not know how to finish one.

To try and break that wall Iíve drawn a greyscale environment to keep things more simple.
I would like some critique or tips on the current state, before I attempt rendering everything.

By your comments, I just can say you to continue it... try to render the image and later on, work on the refinement...

    best regards

    Your thumbnail works better.
Spiky rocks and spiky dragon makes it easier to see the intent (bad dragon).
Though personally I'd make the dragon larger (by about 50%)
I'd also have your spiky rocks point towards the building (generally) it'll help direct the gaze (secondary support for the dragons focus)

    Keep going…

I agree with Venger - the thumbnail is much better, especially the building seems so much more grand.

Thank you for the advice, hereīs my progress so far. I changed the dragon again to whats on the thumbnail and at this point I am pretty much working on unfamiliar terrain.

Ok you're part way there - now you need more story.
Why is the dragon looking at the castle?
Is it feeding time ala King Kong sacrifice? you could add in piles of bones etc around the rock its sat on.
Maybe tall carved horns have called it or beacons have been lit to attract it.

I think you could change the rock placement (lower left) pointing towards the castle (it doesn't have to be regular) but it will guide the viewers eyes and reinforce the dragons intent.
(Seeing as your rocks are large dark grey arrows - have them pointing to your area of focus)

Keep going, it's looking good so far

Heh, I was actually so focused on trying to finish a drawing I kinda forgot the storytelling. Here is a update. I was thinking of going with priests going to worship the dragon, maybe a dragon statue atop the temple.
