    AK's sketchbook

    Hi there,

I'm Albert, I'm 30 years old and I'm from the Netherlands.
I studied Design Engineering, and work as a full time mechanical engineer at the moment.
I like to draw and paint a lot, and since my work mostly lets me draw in CAD, this is where I blow off some steam
So I bought me a Wacom tablet a while ago, but never really got the hang of it. I really want to learn how to make this thing work, hence this thread.
I started to really draw on the tablet a few months ago, and I think I'm getting a feel for it now. Now it's time to improve! Hopefully it'll work out, if you guys have any critiques, they are very much appreciated

I like your sketches of the anatomy of the hands and body. If anything, something feels off about the baby.

Thanks Devoidd, I know the portrait is the litlle man needs some work, his head bulges a little and his left eye is a little off. As for the pose studies, there is still a long way to go, but thanks or the support.

So here's some stuff I worked on last week, been quite busy with work and other things, so didn't have much time to draw/ paint.
Anyhow, did some minor tweaking on the little man's head, irl his head doesn't look that weird..

I love the tree... face thing!! I think it could be very cool!!

Can't wait to see your progression on the tablet! I too just got my tablet (at the end of Dec.) and have been working hard to figure it out!

Adrienne, thanks for stopping by. Was planning to do a whole forest with weird looking trees, but couldnt really find a nice composition for it..
Nice to hear you're going for some digital paint yourself. Hope you'll enjoy it just as much as I am.

Thanks for your kind words, your own sketchbook looks very promising!

So I've been busy the last week, lots stuff going on at work, many projects in dire need of attention. Felt a bit burnt out at the end of the week, so I took the liberty too take Friday afternoon off and take it easy for a bit.
But have been drawing anyways, although I think it shows in the drawings as well..
Since its a lot of sketches, I'll cut it in to two posts.
These I've made earlier this week sitting in the couch, which isn't a nice place to work to be honest.

    Thanks n1frit!

    Ok so here's part 2.
After looking through last weeks sketches i felt the need of some direction, since it's all unconnected. I want to learn how to draw correctly, so I can learn how to use the wacom correctly.
So after strolling round the web I found a very nice guide to human figure drawing by Riven Phoenix on youtube. How to draw the human figure from the mind. Figured this would be a nice start.
Here are the results after the first ten video's:

Hopefully we'll get to see some different poses next week!

Anyways the plan is to do some of the exercises I did on paper on the wacom, next week. Since that's what I really want to learn and master. I'll try and squeeze in some fun drawing/ painting too ^^

I think you're off to a good start, AK-47. But don't just try to squeeze in fun stuff, make sure you spend time on drawings/paintings other than exercises and studies. I know what I'm talking about, I've been neglecting the fun stuff for far too long and it shows. Don't let that happen to you
