Quite new to the concept art world, done digital painting for quite a while but never done a 'landscape' or 'character design', thankyou to anyone who provides useful advice

Use larger brushes for the centerpiece. Right now your use of thinner brushstrokes flattens it from too much detail, if that's understandable. Aside from that, you might want to give the lighting another go.

I might not have communicated the idea good enough in the drawing, it's meant to be strung together almost like a nest, not a solid piece? and can you be more specific with the lighting part please?

The lighting is irregular, and I don't know what's even going on with the red stuff in the center. Even if it were put together as a nest, I'd still advise blocking it in and then picking out patches to show the detail instead of just making all of it distinct like that.

Rendering aside, it doesn't look anything like a forge and I would have never guessed without the title. Next time do various thumbnails and explore different ways to portray what it is you are trying to get across.
