Tnx for stopping by my sb , you're improving fast man, try to use a 100%opacity/hardness brush without the opacity jitter of the stylus, so that you can pick up the subtle colors instead of trusting the brush to do it, try once, see if it helps you.Keep working!

Cool gestures man, and the form simplification on the heads is really good. For crits, try measuring more on the heads as some proportions seem a little off and I would recommend looking at Color and Light by James Gurney (book) and Jeremy Vickery's Gnomon DVD's. Both are really good for learning about lighting and how different materials work under light such as reflection, refraction and absorbtion. Then try and paint some still life stuff and identify this stuff, for example, your rendering the hair kinda like it was a matte object, but it actually diffusely reflects the light source, so kind of think of it as though you were looking into a mirror and you could see the light source at a certain angle, either more blurred or clear depending on the material. You might already know this stuff haha, but the books are really informative so you should check them out . Happy studying, Will.

Hey will1231ill. Thanks for the advice. I'll look up the book and video you mentioned =] And thanks for the advice,
    Thanks Bow and brush ^_^

I am frustrated so much with these. After I done my anatomy study which I struggled to paint. I tried to do a still life with just the hard round brush and a bit of the chalk brush. I tried to do an imaginative portrait with just the hard round and I have never been so close to throwing my laptop out of the window. So here are the monstrosities.
Edit: Put up a grey scale I done later. I was focused on just trying to render smoothly, which made me screw up from not focusing on the forms, blah.

Seems like you're on the right track with your figure drawing. Complement those anatomy studies with some more from imagination, it helps a lot to retain and test what you learned imo.

How long do you work on one of these still lifes? I think you should take them further, it's not bad to get into detail until you don't lose yourself in it.

First and foremost, I'd like to say that u are making a very good progress. I like the way u drew the boot a lot (not only because I wear similar to this type myself ). Just a friendly recommendation-do some gesture thumbnails or dynamic figures.
Note: Sounds a bit weird to give tips since I am a total newbie, doesn't it?

Great start to a sketchbook! I'd want to see less B&W studies and more full color studies though. B&W's are great for studying values, but I colors are really important too. Anyway, keep at it

@Lifelover, thank you so much =] I do figures in my sketchbook, Simply because it is faster. I am just not able to post them because I don't have a proper camera nor a scanner. Thanks for the tip though, I'll probably do some digital ones just to show.
@Papu, I am only doing B&W for the time being because I feel like I am not good enough at forms, construction etc. Staying away from colour for the time being is giving me one less thing to think about when doing studies =].

    Thanks for the sketchbook comment!

Impressive amount of studies! Wish I could be so diligent.

I'm in no way an expert, but you said a few posts back that you'd like to improve your understanding of form and construction. I think maybe it would improve if you tried constructing faces etcetera purely with straight lines. This makes measuring easier, makes it look more ´3d´ and also gives more 'character' to what you paint or draw

Hey Burnme. Thanks for the advice. I'v actually been studying the Reilly method/abstraction for construction. If you have not heard of it, look it up on google, it is an amazing way to construct. Thanks for stopping bye =]

So I am just gonna post a study and anatomy sketches. I want to use the rest of the day to find better ways to learn. I was thinking of stopping the photo studies and study the masters instead since I am going to dive back into colour again. If that is wrong though, please don't hesitate to tell me I am an idiot. I'll try post some work later tonight if I can. I should also point out I am going to just do my anatomy studies with pencil, I am able to draw faster so I feel I can do more in less time so I won't be posting those anatomy sketches anymore.
