Getting back into studies, I think I'll do 4 more of these before I move onto something else.

You are really good. Just wanted to start off by saying that, your skill level is seriously insane. The environment studies are looking great and I am really glad you are frequently updating this sketchbook again! Too bad I hadnt noticed quicker. The last design on that soldier is just amazing, that could go straight into an AAA game or movie. Your progress is inspiring to say the least. Hopefully you keep updating this sketchbook so I dont have to miss the progress for longer than a few days

Excellent work! Some critique: just a small touch but try adding some sharper brush strokes of waves or ripples to complement the bigger strokes.

@Dennis, Thanks man, you're doing good too!

@Crankshaft Definitely going to work on details, it's an area I am still not so confident on.

Note to self, always use references when drawing.

Great job sir! I'm really enjoying your brushwork, that sci-fi soldier (sorry, don't know where he's from) turned out so badass with the brush marks!

About your last post, I feel that the figures are blending a bit into the grass... I would darken them a little bit more, to really pull them into the foreground! I also find the color green very dificult to work with, I would suggest that when the green is not the focal point of your composition, always try to push it a little bit more into the grays, blues or yellows!
It's not a rule though, feel free to experiment with it!

    Keep the awesome up!

    @Minella Thank you!

@Rhasdra, I didn't know that, I'll try experiment with that in my next painting. Thanks!

Okay, progress been sluggish lately, not dead. Just hanging there.

Great work. Some critique: Regarding that tree I would shed some more light on it to show more form as it feels very flat. Also I think having some spots of light shining thru the foliage would help enliven the ground around the tree as well.

I loved the tree one! You got some beautiful colors, value structure and composition... But I find the lighting in this scene very confusing. Always think of the cast shadows! They really make your lighting come alive.

    Great job sir, work hard!

Oh and if you want to watch me paint live I recently got introduced to this thing called picarto TV... It's nice to do art and share it - if you have any questions it's great to talk too! I'm painting pretty much 12 hours a day so you'll most likely find me - unless I'm eating

Nice update. I would break up the shadow of the rock since it's over the water and not over a smooth flat surface.

    yup, you guys are right.

Recently I've just watched a video that has nothing to do with concept art, but at the same time really helped me to off my feet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3SGX-TTnNI

And it's that time of a student's lifespam to be prepping for uni portfolios, so I went ahead and re-repainted Knight from a while back, making this the 3rd paintover.

God your work is fantastic, you should be applying to AAA game/film companies instead of uni. I just applied too. Where and what are you studying? Would be so cool to be in your class, would definitely be a challenge to compete.

WE NEED AN UPDATE! I hadn't seen these last two pieces, especially like the airplane one. Really like how it looks like as a movie poster on your portfolio, it is very well designed to fit its purpose. I really want to see some work you're doing at uni, this definitely needs an update! Hope you are enjoying it and learning a ton, I have a feeling I'll see more of you somewhere along the path of becoming pros in the industry.

That is the dream, hope to see you there too.

I haven't really had to opportunity to delegate free time into concept art since uni, if anything, I've been learning new skills like 3d, unreal engine and the likes. I haven't given up on concept art or anything but it seems like I've took quite a long break from it, idk if I still have it in me to be learning that right now. Also my course tutor has insisted we keep updating on a tumblr blog, which you can find in my signature.

But yea, definitely want to get back into the creative sketches and step my game up, eventually.

I've dutifully neglected my art studies for a long time, recently picked up the pen and learning to have fun again.

Any guidelines on how to approach studies would be awesome, thanks for visiting.
