Hello, you sexy people! I'm a 23 year old University student who was heavily into sketching years ago and put it down for a bit. Now I'm back with a vengeance, and want to make a career out of my first passion. It's going to take a lot of work though, so I'm going to use this sketchbook as a motivational tool. My digital painting ability is pretty rudimentary, so that's what I'm focusing on improving right now, but my main interest is in character design and storyboarding. All critiques are welcome!
I really like a lot of these, keep up the awesome work!
Haven't submitted anything finished in a while (school got out of hand fast), but I've been practicing and am starting to get more comfortable with painting. Here's some stuff from earlier this week:
The next two are attempts to build a background with no references. I noticed in FZ videos he'll just develop some shapes and colors to set up the tone of the iamge before worrying about details. These are just exercises, so I'm probably not going to detail them:
And here's a cat being weird:
I've still been drawing, I swear!
First off, the illustrious Dr. Malcolm.
I'll probably put some more work into this one. I like the overall image, but I'm trying to detach myself from relying too much on hard lines. Plus, I'm still trying to get used to drawing purely with the Wacom without it looking wonky.
Any and all critique is appreciated!
First off, a study - I'm noticing that my colors tend to seem washed out, so I figure what I need to work on most are values. This has been one of the most interesting months for me in my entire life, because I'm starting to really see how light works when I'm just out walking around. Doesn't mean I can draw it though! That's okay, more stuff to work on.
This is my latest character concept. Geomancer with a techno-mage gauntlet.
