I'm not sure what the best angle or crop should be for this. I'm looking to make it seem like she is coming through an opening in the clouds towards the viewer. This is a quick layout so I'm open to any changes or pantovers. And yes, her wings are on fire.

I think you should make some quick thumbnails first to explore different possibilities for this scene before you proceeded to paint.
1.The pose seems strange to me.
2.Her body is not in shadow and her back is not receiving any light
3.Scene looks kinda dull color and value wise, try playing with saturation and value/color contrasts to create a focal point
4.Look for references for things you arn't sure of how to draw of paint, it helps.

Thanks but I haven't really started painting yet, I was just looking for composition critiques and the pose is from a stock photo. I just started laying down some color and realized its not quite what I wanted. Creating scenes from scratch is my achilles heal so any help in that area would be appreciated.

Well she's really not falling towards us. but more parallel to us. I think more crop on both sides of her would make this a better piece and strengthen the vertical line. Make her wings in the falling motion too. What I mean by that they are behind like you have them but pointing towards the opening just like the cape would if you were jumping down and the cape would be up falling behind you.

I'm trying to find a very dramatic angle.
