StefanA - doodles - 2D rehab for the starving 3D artist

    Hi Everyone!
I've been a member of this forum since... I don't know when But I've been a chicken and never posted anything. After 15+ years as a 3D artist for mainly commercials I have come to the conclusion that I have lost my creative soul. The only way to change that is to try and be creative on your own, without a client breathing down your neck. And as it turns out, we were forced into liquidation and I'm out of a job! So now I all the time in the world, kind of.

These days I have a new saying, "you are only as good as your last doodle". I doodle to get credits to earn back to my creative soul.

Please be gentle. Below is a batch of some of my doodles from the last months or so, I hope it was ok to upload these many as a first...

    regards
    stefan andersson

So I made this one yesterday right after my post of the "creature". I really love dragons, and I found this post http://www.noukah.blogspot.se/2012/1...ing-donut.html and I just had to draw my own version. Today I haven't been able to draw anything. So this will be my post for today.

Two doodles, a monster and a dragon. I tried to upload the dragon before, but I got the message that it was going to be reviewed by the moderator?

Anyhow, still doodling and trying to improve my skills.

Some fun concepts! Would love to see some more studies too, understanding form and anatomy will allow you to build your concepts even more convincingly. Keep it up!

@KateyParr: Thanks! I know I should do some more studies... It's like when you were a kid and didn't want to clean your room, but in the end you know it's worth it. And it's easier to hide behind weird characters, though in the end I think it will show if you know your anatomy and if you have done your 1000 sketches of the human for (or a tree).

    best regards
    stefan

Thanks! I know I should study anatomy and form.... It's just... it's like when you were a kid and your parents told you to clean your room. Just don't want to do it, even though you should and it will be worth it. Right now I'm just trying to get my hands and arm to move without it feeling awkward. After the holidays I will try and look at it more seriously, and it's easy right now to hide behind strange characters

    Thanks for the reply!
