Ongoing work for "The Book of Wizards": (Updated! 3/14/13)

Hey everyone, so, I decided it was time to start posting the pieces I have been working on for my upcoming self-published book entitled "Gateway: The Book of Wizards". Back in May I carried out a successful Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to publish the main book (The Book of Wizards) as well as a sketchbook, a fiction anthology, and an illustrated map of the City of Gateway.

I will post more as I complete them, but here is a handful to get things started. Hope you like them!

hey dude, first off let me say I think this stuffs great!where is it destined to go? will it be a graphic novel or a childrens illustrated book?

In this day and age, when so much looks generic and staid, you have genuinely managed to create a beautiful, original style - I could actually see this project going really far if you play your cards right!

is it all digital? my favourites are the rundown shack in img4, the claw knight guy, the blue dude with 4 ears and the first img, all of them give an insight into a potentially rich and beautiful world!

so, best of luck! (and a pat on the back for all the hard work!)

Great art and original designs. Congratulations!
So, it's your story? Very curious about this because I have a personal project in the works. How difficult it was to raise funds?

VERY nice... A very Image Comics/Greg Capullo (hopefully spelled right) style to it.

    Thanks everyone!

HalJarret - It's an illustrated book. Basically it's a book full of portraits and short biographies of various characters from the world I created called "Gateway". It is MOSTly digital. Some pieces are traditional media, and others start with a pencil sketch which I scan and paint in photoshop, while still others are completely digital.

L!nk - I raised the funds on Kickstarter (there is a link to my Kickstarter page in my sig below). The hardest part was putting the video together and deciding how to "sell" the idea to people who were watching. I was frankly blpown away by the positive response, I had no idea it was going to happen the way it did. I asked for &10k, and I ended up with $25, after expanding my stretch goals to include things like a fiction anthology (written by various authors I know), an illustrated map, and a printed book of sketches from my sketchbook, along with a few other small things. I really think Kickstarter is an amazing tool for artists with passion projects.

    Hi Muttonhead!

Seen your work for a while and you've been a real inspiration to me actually, in my work. Really would like to get involved in that kickstarter. But how do you donate (call me stupid haha )?

    Fantastic!!!

This is AMAZING. I love the world you've created. Can't wait to get the book! Just a suggestion based on what I like from a book like that: the more in-depth the descriptions the better! As much as I love using my imagination, it's so cool to hear the backstory behind a scene or character. Have you thought of getting someone to write a story to go along with it?

Obviously I'm excited for whatever you choose to do and I'd love to grab a copy of this when it's done! Thanks for sharing!

Edit: After watching the kickstarter video (well done by the way) I understand the project a bit more! You can disregard my comment about finding a writer!
