    Zeppelin Station

Hi, I'm Aleksandar Papez, a graphic designer from switzerland.
I was just reading this forum, but decided to make an account to get and give some critique.
It really seems to be a nice forum.

I want to share my first real attempt at mattepainting.
I don't have a title for it yet, any suggestions?

Thanks already in advance for your feedback.

    a little bit bigger picture:

If you want to see any details, the original picture is 88x144cm and 200 dpi.
    just ask.

You wouldn't be able to see the top of the landing pad from the point of view for the image. This is the problem with sticking photos together without being able to draw and paint. You need to start with basic drawing and painting skills before you can manipulate photo reference effectively.

There's too much empty space in the top and bottom. A landscape cropping would work a lot better.

When matte painting, as with all paintings, you need to clearly know where the horizon is, and that the perspective agrees with it. From this camera angle, we shouldn't see the top of the landing pad - the horizon is much lower than that.

The painted elements are very underwhelming. You need to bring them up to the same level of polish as the rest of the photograph, otherwise they will always look out of place.

Thank you for your critique, but can you specify how i can reach that level of detail in my drawings you're pointing out?

And thanks about the perspective, I totally see what you mean. You sometimes just loose the feeling for it when you work too long on something.

Welcome to the forums, I would ask that you reduce the size of the image? It's a bit too large to view comfortably at the moment.

    Thanks.
