    I'll give it to
    Alien
    Predator 1/2(I liked them anyway)
Equilibrium was cool, if only for the gun katas
Maybe its just because I saw it last night but "Secret Window" was a very good movie, and not at all a waste of time/money/energy.

    My list.....by genre:

    Action/Drama/War: Saving Private Ryan
    Fantasy/Adventure/Action: LoTR Trilogy
    Comedy/Family/Animation: Lilo & Stitch
    Action/Comedy/Crime: Starsky & Hutch
    Thriller/Drama/Mystery/Crime: Se7en
    Documentary: Step Into Liquid
    Drama/War/Action: Braveheart
    Adventure/Romance/Animation/Fantasy/Family: Shrek
    Action/Fantasy/Sci-Fi: Spiderman 2
    Action/Comedy/Horror/Romance: Shaun of the Dead
    Drama/Thriller/Mystery: Fight Club
    Drama/Romance/Sci-Fi/Thriller: Vanilla Sky
    Drama/Sci-Fi/Mystery: Contact
Adventure/Drama/War: Bridge on the River Kwai

Not that this is the perfect list....I just used the categories and the imdb top rated movies by genre thing to help filter them down. I probably wouldn't use the same categories if I were just to do it from the top of my head....this is just an effective way to filter out my list of kagillions of favourite movies.

    My 2¢

I mostly agree with Sinix' list, but don't forget:

    North by Northwest

Absolutely one of the best movies ever made.

I hope that Silently Roaring was talking about the Frank Sinatra Danny Ocean, and not the George Clooney one.

Also, nobody mentioned Enter the Dragon. Given the popularity of kung-fu here, this one is a must-see.

Last addition: for those really into special effects, Jacob's Ladder and What Dreams May Come.

Lets not forget Aliens and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Two flawless movies, often imitated, never bettered.

    Taxi 2 is pretty sweet.

I like Gross Pointe Blank, it makes me want to be a hitman.
