Dirgeance - Thanks man, glad you think I'm improving [Wish I could see it :C] I'll definitely try to keep edges more in mind. I've been trying to wrap my head around it and seeing Anthony Jones do it so friggin well is inspirational and frustrating.

So, I've been missing for a while and I have....nothing to show for it. I've decided to try my hand at some value work and lighting after watching some Anthony Jones livestreams. That man is so fast and so good, I couldn't stop watching him work. Anyways, hope this isn't too poopy, kinda sucks to start a new page like this too lol. I will make up for it soon! Lots of studies after mid terms, I promise!!!!!!

Try focusing on the contrast between values when you do experiments. Start out with three in the beginning, white, 50% gray and black. then blend the colors Just thought I'd drop my two cents into the proverbial jar

For lack of a better signature...

J-44/ForScience - I appreciate the advice and I'll try to incorporate it more into my work

Well, here is my shitty update. I've been sick past few days but it isn't really a good enough excuse to justify my inactivity. Barely worked in my sketchbook either, last entry was 2 weeks ago Been trying to push contrast and think about values more, but I need to designate some time and sit down and do some studies.

Forscience - Thankyou, I hope I can pump out waaaay more content so I can hurry up an get better

Ok, so I still haven't gotten to doing as much as I want but I'm trying to push a little art every day. Bunch of sketchbook stuff that I don't wanna take pictures of so I'll post my digi stuff. Fairy dude and a penguin afro ninja. If I could just spend like 4 solid hours a day painting I could get 4 times more paintings done but I'm such a slacker

Another small update. I've been mostly dabbling in my sketchbook (which I finally filled out, oh yeah) so I only have these 3 digi-paintings. I am absolutely terrible at environments and atmosphere, so I need to work on that for sure. Mostly reference studies I'm assuming? Like, it's so terrible I didn't even want to put it up but I think I need some input from people that know what to look for. Any obvious errors associated with anything? I'm pretty sure just about everything is off with it.

I'm falling behind in studies *sigh*. Here's a thing I drew instead of doing my homework. But now I have to do it, uggggghhhh.

Some stuff. I have quite a few more SB pages done but they're just more fan content. The last picture is a thing for another website event, theme was to draw an everyday thing with over the top action.

Great work so far dude. Your studies are really impressive! You might want to try doing more construction sketches before you focus on color and value though. As much fun as painting is, it's pretty important to have a solid grasp on rigid shape construction.

Mewball - Thanks I'm gonna try and really cram in more anatomy studies during break since right now I've only been able to draw sporadically between class and work. I'll definitely focus on construction!

Sooo, I've just got a couple of sketches for today, nothing more Since I've been getting back into cartoony stuff too (I know, bad me) expression is something I really wanna strengthen as faces have been a huge weakpoint of mine. So mouths and eyes are what I started to look into today, but I'm definitely gonna go more in depth over break along with anatomy. Drew my friend's boxer's thigh as well haha, it was all muscly and I just had to draw it.

(please excuse the terrible anatomy on the first page, I did it half asleep in the hallway while waiting for class.)

I like the rendering on that sketchy cloud! Yeah...humans are hard to draw...'specially the head. Just keep working at it, and it'll click.
I think some perspective studies will help you with environments...that and painting from life/reference to get your colors and values worked out.
Overall, your brushwork is pretty good! it just needs to put put on top of some fundamentals.

Aether - Thanks dude! I'm glad you like my little cloud haha. And yeah, drawing faces is harddd I did a master study today to see if I can get a better handle on color and value (which I think I did ok) but I messed up the form.

Soooo, I just have this master study for today. Been busy lately with finals coming so hopefully I can get more stuff out soon.

nice atmosphere on that last one, and excellent brushwork as always. Posing could use a little work.

Aether-Thanks man, I'm definitely gonna work on gesture studies over break. I've got 10 days to utilize and I'm gonna get posing and gestures down!
Triggerpigking-Thankyou, I'll definitely get more studies going.
Deputyballer-I just do either a realllly loose sketch, or paint random scribbles and build off that. I usually have a subject matter in my head or if I don't I'll try and think what I want to practice and go from there. I appreciate the comment
Mewball-Thanks! Hopefully I can catch up to you and get some studying done

I wish I could say I did these all in one day, but they were done over the past 4 days. Gotta pick up the slack!

Used Scott Eaton's Bodies in Motion series for quite a few of these. I'm gonna try and go through every single gallery and do roughly 50% of them. Also need to flesh out things more, wanna do a good study soon to see how far I can push details. These helped enormously with getting muscles right, the guys are so buff they look like those 3d models haha.

Mewball-Thanks man! you get to see my bad side today though, foreshortening and proportional errors abound

More pages from today, definitely not a good day. Tried to fit more on each page (tiny SB) made a lot of it illegible. Rough start too.

I swear one day I'll be good. I swear one day I will be proud of my work. When that day comes, I'll need to kick my ass and try harder.

Great stuff mate! Really like your lines and your motivation. Not much else I can say really...I mean, I don't think I'm quite as good as you just yet, and therefore don't really like giving crits...So yeah, I'll just stick with the compliments Good luck on your quest to become a concept artist...We might end up being colleagues some day.

Nice sketches, I can tell that you have a great imagination by looking at them, I only wait to see some of your ideas as polished and finished artworks, keep it up!

Henry C. - Thanks man, good luck to you too
AntY93 - If my legs don't shrivel up I'll try to finish something one day
Xcarbon - Thanks a lot dude, I enjoy playing with colors but I don't have a clue what I'm doing, lol.

Some shitty paint sketches and a little vent comic. I drew in my SB too but I'll upload em next time. 2am here.

My figures are still weak and inconsistent. Same with faces, ugh. Stress from school doesn't help either, having second thoughts on being an engineer
