I am stuck with my progress! Pretty frustrating, but I'm sure I'll break out of it eventually.

Been working a lot harder on art these days, hopefully some improvement shows ahah
My current W.I.P and to the right, a piece I recently finished about a week or so ago
Some quick face sketches and some crappy figure drawings. I just got through Michael Hampton's Figure Drawing: Design and Invention and I'm also reading Color and Light by James Gurney on the side.
Design and Invention was a super fun book to go through and I found it made a lot of things so much more clearer to me. It has helped me a lot more than my figure drawing book by Andrew Loomis, I believe. I'm planning on taking some of the online courses at CGMA this October, so that's been serving as another thing to push me forward in my art.
So I got pretty frustrated with the piece I'm currently working on, so I've started again from scratch. I just noticed her face might look a little off, but now I can fix it :]
At least I've improved since 2011..
I think your use of colors is stronger than your use of values. That face in #4 looks quite good!
Using very dark/light value to emphasize certain parts would make your work pop out more. For example, the green guy in #6 might benefit from lighter highlights.
Thanks for the input. I was hoping to get around to doing some value studies soon, but my over a year old cintiq has put me off of doing that since the colours and brightness are way off now. I can work around that until I get a new one though. Again, thanks for the advice. It's a great feeling when people are willing to help you along :]
A little study of a chameleon and some feet and figure drawing things. I feel like I really lack in being able to create interesting or realistic shapes when it comes to clothing, so I tried to do some very quick contour drawings to get the feeling of the unique shapes.
I feel you shouldn't try to do soft transitions with airbrush-type brushes just yet. It frankly makes pictures look cheap, and you have much more precise control when you do it with a hard brush.
Saying that, you're improving! Keep doing studies.
Yeah I agree with you on that. I can't quite pull it off yet. Your words are greatly appreciated.
Some little studies from the movie Submarine.
Here we have a not so great colour study and..some WIP DBZ fanart. Except I have never watched DBZ. My friend told me to draw these two and this is what's becoming of that. So yeah.
A couple of things from yesterday excluding a materials exercise I'll be finishing up today.
Material studies n colour study with a messed up face. Not really happy with the middle row of materials but I'll get better in time.
Here's a WIP of a Jack Skellington redesign I'm doing! Fun stuff.
Haven't done much drawing/painting the past few days, but I'm getting back into the groove now that I finally got my new tablet.
So I had some time to kill and I asked my girlfriend "What should I paint?" and she said "Do something you hate and something you love together" and I thought that was an amazing answer. I always seem to tell myself that I completely hate doing any sort of landscapes or environments but the more I do them the more I realize I don't mind it nearly as much. My favorite thing to paint is people, so I decided to hit the ground running and I just ran with whatever I slapped down on the canvas. Initially I was pretty unhappy with the way it was looking but now that I've done a bit more work on it I really don't think it's too bad for me.
I was super tired today due to being kept up all night by a dog that somebody had locked outside on their balcony across from my apartment, so so far this has been all I've done today other than a bit of work on a master study. This was just a very quick sketch to loosen me up a bit.
@Kevin - Thanks! I hope to do a lot more studies in the next little while. Here are a few from today, and then a goofy creature from imagination
So here are some sketches that I've done over the past couple of days. The city/town one I abandoned because I couldn't see it going anywhere good.
A very rough sketch for a commission I'm doing, and a study of a stormy ocean for it.
