    How to? Need help to get this effect

    I like this image that you can find here: http://assets2.ignimgs.com/2009/12/0...91-3072901.jpg that comes from a silent hill illustration.
    When you look closely you can see a fine texture on all the picture that gives a brush paint texture. But obviously it has been added at the end. Do you know how to do it?

    The easiest way i can come up with in a rush:

    Create a new top layer> paint the painttrails with what ever brush you wish> grayscale the layer> change blending mode to overlay (exactly 50% grey will be transpirant blacks will darken and whites will lighten), play with opacity and fill or/and brightness and contrast to statisfy your needs at the end.

    This is somewhat what 3d modelers do to bump theire skins.
