    Post Photoshop User - Layers

    Painter 8 Question:

I merge layers pretty often. and find myself opening up PS7 whenever i want to merge layers. or resize an object within a layer. Is there something i am missing or am i just stuck going back and forth?

    -Thanks

You can't merge layers in Painter, unless they are all in "default" compositing mode, and part of a group.

In Painter, the commands to "merge" Layers in Painter are Group and Collapse, both found in the Painter 7 and Painter 8 Layer Commands icon's drop down menu at the bottom of the Layers palette/section, in the Painter 7 and Painter 8 Layers palette/section menu, and in the Painter 8 Layers main menu.

The Layers first need to be highlighted (hold down the Shift key and highlight them in the Layers list), then the Group command selected.

If all Layers in the Group are in Composite Method Default, the next step is to select the Collapse command. Otherwise, the Collapse command will be greyed out.

A pain in the neck, isn't it?
