A little painting I did from stock. 'beinspyred' is the stock account. Not used to painting and blending with photoshop. I usually use Sai, but I want to be as versatile as possible.

Practised expressions with Doris. I feel like my ability to draw facial expressions is not so great, so I wanted to work on it.

I don't know why, but I haven't uploaded any of what I've drawn since I moved into my new place.

More warmups from the past few days. Trying to get more varied in how I do them. Maybe I'll get back into pencil drawing for some of them tomorrow.

Forgot to post this when I did it. It's something more painted than my usual illustration style. It started as a sketch in my sketchbook that I decided to play around with in SAI.

All those senshistock studies are a really great start on getting bodies to work in 3D space, some of them work really well. Try to apply some of that to the faces; even if it's not the style you intend to use in your personal work, figuring out correct perspective on things like noses and mouths will teach you a lot!

Thanks! Face studies sounds like a good idea. I haven't done any in a really long time because I was so worried with how my bodies were coming out.

I've been drawing in my sketchbook every day, but it's just anatomy sketches and I don't really know if my anatomy is really improving that much. But anyway.

Two new 30 minute speedpaints. One of these days on a weekend, I should do a longer study, but for now, I feel like these are helping me paint things more evenly... I guess?

The portrait is of model Sylonjia Odion. I found some of her photos on Tumblr and decided to try to work from one. The landscape was just one that I had saved on my computer. I really need to do more landscapes. I feel like the colour choices look really immature in that one.

I was really dissatisfied with how the 30 minute landscape came out earlier, so I did an hour one.

More sketches. I need to work on some more head/face stuff so I'll probably do that today. It's hard to balance learning how to draw better with personal projects.

MOre practice and something imagined. Haven't done anything like that for a while. Imagined stuff still looks really stiff...

Hi, you posted in my sketchbook recently so I figured I should post back to yours.

The gestures look they're heading in the right direction. They look pretty alive and fluid. The areas I think you need to work on are face construction and understanding tone/value. You can't really do much with color until you gain an understanding of tone unless you get lucky. All your colored images look flat right now.

If you learn how to make an image shaded in grayscale color will be much easier. I would say stay away from color and do some value studies with pencil and a sketch book even if you're just shading basic forms (spheres, cylinders, cubes, pyramids).

Once you get that down you should see a big improvement in your ability to do color.

I'm still doing gestures every day, but maybe there's not a lot of point in posting them every day?

I did a sketch and did some monochromatic colouring. Not greyscale, but I'm going to start doing that regularly, especially with longer studies. I never really post imagined drawings here because I feel like they're not as important, but maybe I should be doing that.

Maybe I should start posting gestures again? Well, I turned today's gestures into value studies as well and I spent a lot more time on them than usual. I think I'll mix up my daily gestures with this sort of thing more often.
