Still as flat and formless as your previous work.

Expect no real improvement until after you have started those studies.

Then you should listen to your pencil. I wouldn't bother with photoshop for a long while. Make your pencil and paper an obsession and you won't go wrong.

Use reference. Your brain doesn't automatically remember the kind of detail you need to know in order to make a drawing. Like if you're talking to someone and looking at their face, you don't need to know how far apart their eyes are or where exactly the nose and mouth are on the face, so your brain doesn't notice and remember that stuff. So then when you go to draw and you don't remember, you just kinda guess where it all needs to go and how big it ought to be, and you get half the stuff wrong.

A drawing is like getting a pop quiz in biology. When most people start to draw, they think "I know what people look like, I'll just draw a guy." This is kind of like studying for your pop quiz by having Discovery on in the background while you're doing other stuff at home. You only half pay attention to it so you miss giant chunks while you're thinking about something else, and there's no guarantee that you remembered any of it right. At some point you have to stop guessing and actually start learning the details. That's why you use reference. That's why you do studies. You don't have to like... read an entire encyclopedia on human anatomy before you do a drawing but when you study stuff actively it adds up over time.

PS - this is a digital drawing, you can make the canvas larger just as quickly as you can write "feet not shown". Next time add an inch to the bottom and draw the feet. Even in rough drafts people notice attention to detail.
